Dom Rasco on gun owners as “tough guys” (VIDEO)

Wed, 09/30/2015 - 18:16

Former Navy SEAL Dom Rasco chimes in on dispelling the myth that having a gun makes you a tough guy and vice versa.

According to Rasco, an NRA commentator, its not the Hollywood image of the hard boiled action hero with a gun to thank for freedom.

“The responsible American gun owners– the stay at home moms, the middle-school teachers, the business owners,” he says. “Humble people of all shapes and sizes. These are the silent warriors who keep all of us free.”

Head-head challenge: Mosin vs. Mauser (VIDEO)

Wed, 09/30/2015 - 17:51

Alex and Miles over at TFB TV pit a pair of veteran European bolt-action rifles against each other to find out which will prevail– Mauser or Mosin.

In the challenge is a 114-year old Gew 98 and a 72-year-old Mosin-Nagant 91/30 tested on accuracy, rate of fire and everyone’s favorite battlefield drill: walking fire.

Now of course, it would be better if you could get a WWI-era Fritz and a WWII-era Ivan to work the bolts, but you get the idea.

Which would you place your money on?

Remington Model 8: Browning’s semi-auto sporting rifle

Wed, 09/30/2015 - 13:45

It is no overstatement; John Browning formed much, if not most, of the world’s understanding of small arms and what they are capable of. From the Colt 1911 to the Auto-5 shotgun to the BAR, when we consider almost any genre of firearm design (and philosophy of use) all paths inevitably seem to lead back to one man, John Moses Browning. And one of his lesser known but no less remarkable achievements was the Remington Model 8—a semi-automatic sporting rifle.
