GATLINGURG, TENNESSEE — Half joking here, but one reason we carry is because of hotel bears. They’re real.

A video was recently shared on social media that shows a bear roaming the 2nd floor of a hotel, and it’s rather entertaining to watch.

While bears are more than likely to run away from people, you never know what their reaction would be, especially if they’re in a location such as a 2nd level with no easy way out and feel cornered and threatened.

This incident seems to have occurred with no negative outcomes, but what if someone popped out of a hotel room to be greeted by this bear? He’d probably run away, but what if he attacked instead? Whatcha gonna do?

Far-fetched scenario, as this isn’t a typical occurrence, but we’re prepared either way.

If someone is swinging a sword in your direction, it’s best to get out of their reach. This is true even more so when you’re trying to keep him from taking an object that can easily be replaced.

This incident happened in Florida, and began when a man out for a jog found a cart on the side of the road that someone had put out with their other trash.

He wanted it, and apparently another man wanted it as well.

That other man was armed with a sword and quickly began swinging it around.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, the first guy keeps a firm grip on the cart AS the other man is swinging the sword around.

Is it truly worth it, you might ask? No. No it’s not.

The 2nd Amendment is a little bit safer in 7 Texas counties after they passed resolutions to declare themselves Sanctuary Cities for the 2nd Amendment.

With more and more discussion of gun control and the taking away of firearms and 2A rights, it’s important for these gestures to occur, to show others that there are many strong 2A supporters in all of our communities.

Once in a while, you need a good LOL to help you through the day.

It’s still fun to watch self-proclaimed tough guys run for their lives when they attempt an armed robbery only to find that someone starts shooting at them.

That’s what happened, again, in this surveillance video of an armed robbery gone right.

By gone right, I mean it was thwarted successfully by an armed citizen who wasn’t playing around.

The trickiest part, though, is being able to defend yourself without innocent bystanders in harm’s way. Harm’s way = the path of your bullets.

In this case, thankfully no one was injured.

This is a first for us, as we’ve never seen a robbery stop so quickly that didn’t involve an armed citizen shooting first.

The video below shows two men on a motorcycle, sometime during the night, come up on a man standing on the sidewalk. One of the men jumps off the bike with gun in hand and approaches the man.

As he has the gun pointed at the man, he quickly realizes that it’s a buddy of his.

They literally hug, and then the guy with the gun hops back on the motorcycle as his intended victim waves them goodbye.

It’d be my guess that the intended target is also the robber-type by the way he bid them farewell, almost saluting them for their efforts.

It’s a crazy world with a lot of people who just dgaf, and that’s why we’re prepared for their shenanigans.

DETROIT, MICHIGAN — A concealed carrier in Detroit was driving his car when police say a suspect began firing at him.

It is reported that the 30-year-old was driving when the attack took place. Whether random or not, this is a situation that most of us are not prepared for.

The concealed carrier was able to return fire, but it is not known if the target was hit. Police are still trying to locate the suspect.

The man was taken to the hospital for treatment of multiple gunshot wounds. He is expected to survive.

Having an attack take place while seated inside your vehicle –and driving– can be a surprise to almost anyone. Having quick access to your firearm while inside your vehicle, as well as maintaining that situational awareness, are both key points to being aware of an imminent attack.

We’re not going to see them all coming, that’s for sure. Having your tool, and having first aid experience in the event that you are shot, are things to consider and freshen up on regularly.

The surveillance video with this shooting is sure to be used in classroom settings around the Country, because it demonstrates a whole lot in such a small amount of time.

If you want to know what staying in the fight looks like, this off-duty police officer is the one to watch on this surveillance video.

Quickly, two men come into a store and announce a robbery. Off to the left, there is an off-duty police officer who jumps into action with extreme speed. He’s able to engage the suspects, but he takes a few bullets himself and is seen bleeding pretty heavily.

As John mentions in the video, it’s the first time he’s ever seen a Battlefield Pickup, and that’s across his entire channel. What that basically means is that the good guy grabbed the bad guy’s gun as it lay on the ground, gaining control over it during the fight.

There is much more to learn from this scenario, and it’s packed with action and lessons that we can all use.

MERCED COUNTY, CALIFORNIA — A party ended with numerous people needing care for knife wounds, and their attacker fighting for his life after being shot.

Deputies say a party was underway at a ranch down Green House Road when 48-year-old Mario Quinonez from Gustine became intoxicated and started threatening people with a knife.

“He cut a couple of people, and at some point or another, one of the subjects who was assaulted with the knife pulled out a gun to defend himself and ended up shooting the decedent,” said Merced County sheriff’s deputy Daryl Allen.

A friend drove the shot man to the road so that the ambulance could get to him quicker. They say the paramedics worked on him for a good 45 minutes.

He did not survive.

All of the people at the party were said to be friends and family, which makes this even more tragic. Alcohol can be an ugly thing when mixed with the wrong person, but at least one person had the frame of mind to carry a firearm with him. Just in case.

The video below shows two separate attacks and are not for the faint of heart. They depict pure evil that we are forced to live with in this world. However, we are not forced to be victims of these attacks.

Being proactive to help prepare ourselves for things that may come out way is a crucial part of survival.

We all know why we carry, but what about those who don’t? What about the people who own guns but don’t carry, because they don’t think that they’ll ever be a victim? Share this article with them, change some minds, and save some lives. Or, at the very least, help people to be more prepared then they currently are.

Time is of the essence when drawing your firearm in a self-defense situation, and luckily for this homeowner, neither of the bad guys was pointing a gun in his direction.

He’d never make it.

First, the two guys trying to rob him were apparently oblivious to the firearm on their target’s hip. It’s not that surprising, because many people aren’t that aware of what’s going on around them.

Second, it takes a good 5 seconds for this armed citizen to get his firearm on target, and that’s because the open-carry holster came out of his pants, along with the gun.
