Colt Announces Recall of Some Some AR Pattern Rifles
From Colt . . .
Colt’s Manufacturing Company LLC (Colt) has recently discovered a potential safety issue with certain modern sporting rifles (“MSRs”). Colt is voluntarily initiating a recall to protect the safety of its customers because, under certain conditions, it is possible that some of these MSRs may discharge a second round when the trigger is released when there is a live round in the chamber.
Colt is committed to the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction.

Silencer Review: AB Suppressor Raptor Silencer
The Aerocharger Ballistics (AB Suppressor) Raptor suppressor is one of those rare examples of elegant innovation in the silencer industry. Despite the company having several patents, there’s nothing here that’s earth shatteringly new. Instead, much of what’s here makes me wonder why I haven’t seen all of this put together on more cans. And that right there is the real genius. The AB Raptor combines materials, technology, and ideas that seem so easy and perfect, it all just makes sense.

Truck Driver Who Was Denied a Carry Permit Defeats New Jersey’s Powerful Senate President
The potential loss by one of New Jersey’s most powerful politicians would result in upheaval of political power in the state, forcing the Senate to find a new president. Sweeney has been the chamber’s leader since 2010.
Just four years ago, he won reelection in what at the time may have been the most expensive legislative race in American history.
[Challenger Edward] Durr said he entered the race after being denied a concealed carry permit despite having a clean record.

May Issue Permitting Can’t Survive an Accurate Reading of Text, History and Tradition
Today the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in New York State Rifle and Pistol Association v. Bruen, which is expected to produce the Court’s first major Second Amendment decision in over a decade.
MSLF’s Center to Keep and Bear Arms participated in a live blog during argument, and a panel discussion held afterwards. Earlier this year, we filed an amicus brief in the case—arguing against New York’s extremely restrictive permitting scheme, which deprives ordinary citizens of any real right to bear arms outside the home.
Gottlieb Predicts a Supreme Court Victory for Gun Rights After Justices Tipped Their Hands
By Lee Williams
In his appearance before the United States Supreme Court Wednesday, attorney Paul Clement argued that New York made it all but impossible for ordinary law-abiding citizens to exercise their Second Amendment rights: specifically, their right to carry firearms outside of their home for the purpose of self-defense.
Clement, who served as solicitor general under President George W. Bush and represents the petitioners in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v.
SAF: Beleaguered Gun Owners Were the Difference in Virginia Election Wins
From the Second Amendment Foundation . . .
Virginia’s embattled gun owners were the margin of difference when it counted to take back the governor’s office, the Assembly and other key races, essentially setting the stage for “a return of common sense to the Commonwealth,” the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today.
“Old Dominion gun owners were not about to allow anti-gun Democrats enjoy another two years of power after what happened in January 2020,” CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb observed.

The Second Biggest Loser in Last Night’s Virginia Elections: Gun Control
Seeing the Commonwealth of Virginia shift from Blue to purple-shaded-red last night was a shock to the political system. As you’d expect, the great analytical minds who look at these things pegged one reason for the loss by race-hoaxer Terry McAuliffe…racism. Because of course they did.
Never mind that Virginia parents weren’t happy about the curriculum being taught in many of their public schools. Or being branded “domestic terrorists” for daring to object.
Gun Rights at the Supreme Court: Defining a Fundamental Right

By Morgan Marietta, University of Massachusetts Lowell
The Supreme Court is set to hear arguments today on a clear question: Does the constitutional right to possess a gun extend outside the home? The answer may alter gun regulations in many states.
The crux of the issue before the court is captured by a debate that Thomas Jefferson had with himself at the time of the founding.

Civil Liberties Watch: Congress Really Wants a Look Into Gun Buyers’ Bank Accounts
Gun owners beware. Certain members of Congress believe if an individual buys too many guns, too much ammunition, or too many accessories, that person is a potentially dangerous criminal or a “domestic terrorist.”
They also want banks to tell on anyone who might be buying “too much.”
U.S. Sen. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) and U.S. Reps. Madeleine Dean (D-Pa.), and Jennifer Wexton, (D-Va.) havet introduced the Gun Violence Prevention Through Financial Intelligence Act, H.R.
Things That Don’t Suck: Caldwell E-Max Power Cords
I don’t know about you, but I use different hearing protection for different environments. And I usually default to the lightest, least obtrusive option that gets the job done based on where I’ll be shooting. I usually double up indoors with in-the-ear plugs and good over-the-ear muffs. But when I’m outdoors, I go with something lighter, cooler, and more flexible.
I’ve been using Caldwell’s Bluetooth enabled E-Max Power Cords for weeks now and I’m a fan.

NSSF: Another 1.4 Million Firearm Background Checks Were Processed in October, Second Most Ever
The NSSF’s Mark Oliva tells TTAG that . . .
Background checks for gun sales continue to be strong and steadily rising. Background checks in the fall months typically rise as hunting seasons open across the country, new firearm models are being introduced and gun buyers start to consider holiday sales.
The annual total so far of nearly 15.2 million background checks is putting 2021 on the path to being the second strongest year on record.
How Narrow Will the Supreme Court’s Second Amendment Ruling Be?
As the court’s docket shows, the justices first discussed the cert petition at a private conference in March, before debating it again at two additional conferences in April. In each conference, however, the conservative justices failed to produce the four votes needed to grant review. (None of the liberal justices are likely to have voted to grant the case because they almost certainly agreed with the lower court ruling upholding New York’s law).
Then, at another conference held at the end of April, the justices voted to grant the case.
