Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Signs Church Carry Bill Into Law

Thu, 07/01/2021 - 13:00

Governor Ron DeSantis has signed HB 259, Florida’s Church Carry bill, into law. That means religious institutions in the Sunshine State are no longer automatically designated gun-free zones if they offer daycare services, run a parochial school, or rent/lease space from a school to hold services.

Religious institutions are now free to make the choice of letting congregants carry concealed firearms on their own if they wish.

We at Gun Owners of America felt that Florida’s lawmakers could have done much more than what was offered in the final bill.

Biden Threatens America’s Firearm Owners, Twists the Second Amendment to Further His Anti-Gun Agenda

Thu, 07/01/2021 - 12:00

By Larry Keane

President Joe Biden is at it again. The Commander-in-Chief quite literally threatened Americans with unprecedented military action in an attempt to justify the most radical antigun agenda ever thrust on the nation.

History, facts and even the U.S. Constitution don’t matter when it comes to his nouveau interpretation of the Second Amendment. The more President Biden speaks on guns, the more he’s turning out to be the least trusted man to understand them and their place in America.

Gun Control Laws Like ‘May Issue’ Carry Permits Aren’t Only Racist, They’re Also Corrupt

Thu, 07/01/2021 - 08:00

I once tried to get a carry permit in New York.

First, I had to read 60 pages of instructions about irrelevant things like “metal knuckle knives” and “kung fu stars,” fill out a confusing 17-page form, get it notarized, and then go in person to police headquarters.

There they fingerprinted me, demanded reasons why I should be allowed to have a gun, and charged me $430.

Gun Meme of the Day: IKEA is the Tenth Circle of Hell Edition

Wed, 06/30/2021 - 18:00

IKEA, which I’m told has lawyers and so I should say that the title of this post is just, like, my opinion, man, uses approximately one percent of the entire world’s lumber production. That’s insane. Still, concealed means concealed, so if you shop the IKEA labyrinth please keep all of your parts clothed.

Holosun Has Exactly the Green Light Sights You Need for Your Mission

Wed, 06/30/2021 - 15:00

The human eye is about six times more sensitive to green light than it is to red light. That’s why a green dot or reticle appears brighter to the human eye than standard red at the same intensity.

Combine this increased intensity, a larger reticle, and the ability to be more readily seen in daytime light conditions and a green light sight is the better choice for most users. And no matter what your application, Holosun makes the green light sight that’s exactly right for you.

San Jose Slaps Gun Owners With New Burdens After Mayor Admits to Targeting the Law-Abiding

Wed, 06/30/2021 - 14:00

The San Jose City Council voted unanimously last night to require gun owners to hold firearm insurance and pay an annual gun ownership fee. The California city is the first in the nation with such a law.

According to Mayor Sam Liccardo, gun insurance would be a way for shooting victims to be compensated and it would be at “little to no extra cost” for many. He said most gun owners would have the ability to take the firearm insurance onto their homeowner’s insurance.

Why Are Michael Bloomberg’s Anti-Gun ‘Journalists’ Writing for USA TODAY?

Wed, 06/30/2021 - 12:00

Earlier this month, I wrote a story that showed how USA Today had partnered with Bloomberg’s anti-gun propaganda factory, The Trace, for an investigative series – a collaboration which violated more than a few of the Gannett-owned newspaper’s ethical principles.

Now, it appears that the relationship between Bloomberg’s anti-gun activists and USA TODAY has grown even more cuddly. The Trace activists – I cannot call them reporters – are writing “news” stories directly for the paper, as if they’re on the staff.

AOC Calls Citizens’ Crime Concerns ‘Hysteria’ While Spending Thousands for Private Security

Wed, 06/30/2021 - 10:00

By Larry Keane

By now, tens of millions of Americans have seen the video and their reaction has been anything but ‘hysteria.’ A masked criminal firing several rounds at a tumbling victim within point blank range, two small children caught in the middle.

U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) should’ve seen the footage by now. It happened in her backyard after all, in a Bronx, New York, neighborhood and her congressional district includes portions of the Bronx.

Gun Meme of the Day: Open House Edition

According to the Twin Cities Pioneer Press, 36-year-old Gloria Shalaya Phillips attempted to break up with her boyfriend earlier in the day, but he threatened to kill her if she went to the police.

When Phillips returned to her apartment, he followed her in. She ran to her bedroom, barricading herself inside.

9mm Kurz Wunderwaffe Wettbewerb: Walther PPK vs SIG P230SL

Sun, 06/27/2021 - 17:00

Before the age of the micro-compact double stack polymer framed 9mm pistol, there was were two elegant, more refined (though lower capacity) options; the Walther PPK and SIG Sauer P230. They were considered by many in the second half of the 20th century to be the classic concealed carry pistols.

These guns are from a (mostly) bygone era when steel and direct blowback meant high end European quality imports from the land of Teutonic engineering wizardry known as West Germany.

Ask Josh: GLOCK-Type Pistols…Should I Build Or Buy?

Sun, 06/27/2021 - 12:00

Ah yes, the GLOCK 40. Or is it GLOCK Nine? Problem solver? Whichever name you pick, Gaston’s Gat needs no introduction. When it comes to the market for semi-automatic pistols today, GLOCK still holds a top spot. And as a result, there’s a huge aftermarket for parts. That aftermarket is so large that you can make a GLOCK without any actual GLOCK-brand-GLOCK parts. You know, non-GLOCK GLOCKs.

Reader Jack asked .

Texas Supreme Court Tosses Lawsuit Filed by Sutherland Springs Survivors and Families

Sun, 06/27/2021 - 10:00

In 2018, survivors and family members of the Sutherland Springs, Texas church shooting filed suit against Academy Sports + Outdoor for selling the shooter the rifle he used to murder 25 people. The killer, Devin Patrick Kelley, passed the NICS background check conducted during the sale because the Air Force failed to report his criminal record.

Despite the provisions of the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, the families justified their lawsuit on the grounds that the killer was a Colorado resident.

Gear Review: The Aridus QD-C Quick Detach Carrier Shotgun Sidesaddle

Sat, 06/26/2021 - 17:00

My shotgun nerdism continues, and I’ve finally got my hands on an Aridus Industries universal QD-C sidesaddle. I purchased my Benelli M4 over a year ago and have been waiting for these to come back in stock. I was constantly missing them by what seemed like mere hours.

I missed them so often that I purchased some Esstac shotgun cards to cover my side saddle needs in the meantime. However, one June morning recently, I saw the alert from Aridus Industries, jumped on my laptop, and dialed one in.

Sorry Joe, But the Second Amendment Does Not Limit The Kinds of Guns Americans Can Own

Sat, 06/26/2021 - 08:00

The text of the Second Amendment is short: “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”

University of Tennessee law professor Glenn Harlan Reynolds said the amendment’s few words speak for themselves.

“The Second Amendment places no limits on individual ownership of cannon, or any other arms,” Reynolds said.
