GOP Senators: Proposed New ATF Rules are Steps Toward a National Gun Registry

Tue, 06/22/2021 - 08:03

You’re probably aware that as part of the BidenHarris administration’s war on civilian gun ownership, the ATF has proposed two new regulatory rules. The first lays out a new definition of what constitutes a firearm. The rule is allegedly intended to battle the scourge of un-serialized privately made firearms — AKA “ghost guns.” The rule would, in effect, end the 80% lower business and attempt to strictly regulate home-built guns, a clear infringement on the right to keep and bear arms.

Texas’s New Suppressor Law Explained: Nothing Will Change Any Time Soon

Mon, 06/21/2021 - 16:00

By LKB

At long last, the pro-2A side in Texas had a decidedly winning record in the last legislative session. Finally free from years of obstructionist RINO House Speakers, the Texas House passed a slew of long-overdue changes to Texas firearms law in the session that was just completed.

While it took no small amount of pressure on Lt. Gov. Patrick and a number of wavering GOP senators, at the end of the day the People of the Gun pretty much got everything we asked for out of the Texas legislature.

50 Competitors Shoot it Out in the First Gun Maker’s Match Competition for Home Built Firearms

Mon, 06/21/2021 - 15:00

The first Gun Maker’s Match was held Saturday at the Ancient City Shooting Range in St. Augustine, Florida. The DIY gun competition was the brainchild of Rob Pincus, well known shooting instructor and (sometimes controversial) gun rights advocate. Rob has become a staunch advocate of individual gun making and organized the event along with Guns For Everyone National (GFEN) and the AWCY? support community.

The match was sold out at 50 competitors who came from all over the country to participate.

Mark and Patricia McCloskey Went Shopping For New Guns Days After Plea Deal

Mon, 06/21/2021 - 14:00

Mark and Patricia McCloskey made plenty of waves last year when pictures of the St. Louis couple defending their home went viral. At the time, Black Lives Matters protestors had decended on the couple’s neighborhood and broke through a gate. The McCloskey’s feared for their safety.

The story became highly publicized when St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner brought felony charges against the McCloskeys. A judge pulled the case from Gardner and appointed special prosecutor, former U.S.

A History of Failure: Why the ATF Should Be Abolished

Mon, 06/21/2021 - 10:00

By Lee Williams

No one makes a better case for abolishing the ATF than the ATF.

There has never been a federal agency with so little regard for the sanctity of human life, with such a history of failure, with such antiquated duties and responsibilities, with such a propensity to overreact, with such an addiction to good press, with such a willingness to bend over for any politician in charge, and – as we currently see playing out – with such little regard for the constitutional rights of American citizens.

Missouri Police Chief Quits Over New Gun Rights Protection Law

Mon, 06/21/2021 - 08:00

I completely understand the motivation behind Missouri legislators’ desire to protect the gun rights of their citizenry. I’m a strong proponent of the Second Amendment and have always respected those rights during my four decades in law enforcement. The problem with this statute is the poorly worded language that removes sovereign immunity and appears to allow law enforcement agencies and individual police officers to be sued for even good faith justified seizures of firearms in emergency circumstances.

Service Review: Armslist’s New Pay To Play Premium Personal Service

Sun, 06/20/2021 - 13:00

Armslist, everyone’s favorite 2A-friendly Craig’slist alternative, has gone pay for play. Armslist has long had premium accounts aimed at dealers looking to advertise their wares. However, recently Armslist has begun requiring all accounts to be premium to contact or list a firearm, knife, light, or whatever a user wants to sell.

I have had a love/hate relationship with Armslist. I’ve sold a few guns over the website and bought even more. I love the idea of being able to connect with private sellers via a single website.

Man Shoots Himself in the Face After Hot Brass Ejected Into His Shirt [VIDEO]

Sat, 06/19/2021 - 15:00

If you shoot often at all, especially at an indoor range, you’ve probably experienced it. A hot empty case ejects from your pistol, bounces off the lane divider and right back at you. Sometimes it hits you and caroms off. Sometimes it finds its way between your glasses and your cheek (ask me how I know). And occasionally one will worm its way down inside your shirt.

This is why, when taking new shooters to the range, we always caution them not to wear sandals.

It’s Important to Counter Media-Driven ‘Assault Weapon’ Misinformation Whenever We Can

Sat, 06/19/2021 - 13:00

Reading the letters to the editor of mainstream media outlets is a great way to highlight the fact that a large portion of the population consumes and falls for fall for their narratives. This gets particularly sobering when you realize that many of these same people also vote.

Case in point: someone named Tom Halfhill recently wrote a letter to the San Francisco Chronicle regarding “assault weapons” and Judge Roger Benitez’s ruling striking down California’s ban.

I have no idea if this guy is stable or mentally ill. Is he bothered by the heat and have a short fuse today? What if someone makes him mad and he has poor impulse control? Good Guy With a Gun Mistakenly Shot and Killed By Phoenix Police [VIDEO]

Fri, 06/18/2021 - 14:00

A recent officer-involved-shooting in Phoenix presents a host of lessons we can all learn from. A responding police officer there mistakenly shot a good guy with a gun as he held a pair of shoplifters at gunpoint. Both parties made mistakes, but William Brookins, 39, paid for his well-meaning good Samaritanism with his life.

Brookins, the good guy, apparently observed a pair of shoplifters fleeing a store. Riding passenger in an SUV, he had the driver pursue the pair to a nearby parking lot where he confronted them at gunpoint.
