The Anti-Gun Left’s Current Predicament, Voxsplained
For many years, the Supreme Court took the first 13 words of the Second Amendment seriously. As the Court said in United States v. Miller (1939), the “obvious purpose” of the Second Amendment was to “render possible the effectiveness” of militias. And thus the amendment must be “interpreted and applied with that end in view.” Heller abandoned that approach.
Heller also reached another important policy conclusion. Handguns, according to Scalia, are “overwhelmingly chosen” by gun owners who wish to carry a firearm for self-defense.

Girsan MC14T Tilt Barrel .380 ACP Pistol at NRA 2023 [VIDEO]
So new, apparently, that it isn’t even on the Girsan website yet [EDIT: it’s up on EAA’s website HERE], the MC14T is similar in design to the Beretta 86 Cheetah. Chambered in .380 ACP, the MC14T has a flip-up barrel that’s easily activated by depressing a spring-loaded lever on the right side of the gun.
The ability to load and unload the chamber via the tilt barrel means the user can run the MC14T without ever having to manually rack the slide.
Ruger 22/45 Lite Optics-Ready and the New $99 ReadyDot Micro Optic at NRA 2023
Dan and I hit the Ruger booth at the NRA show this year to check out their Mark IV 22/45 Lite Optics-Ready semi-auto pistol and the new ReadyDot micro red dot.
This new optic uses a huge coil of fiber optic to gather light and produce a 15 MOA dot on the compact viewing window. Clearly it auto-adjusts for ambient brightness, and Ruger says it gathers so much light that it’s usable even in surprisingly dark environments.
No One Makes a Better Case for Abolishing the ATF Than the ATF

Every Friday afternoon, like clockwork, most of the ATF’s 25 field divisions send out press releases showcasing their office’s enforcement activities for the week. It’s classic eyewash of sorts. The ATF is trying to look busy, like they’re good stewards of our taxpayer dollars.
As we have previously reported, most of ATF’s criminal charges are filed administratively after the fact, after another law enforcement agency has already made an arrest.

We got our hands on some of the new releases from CZ-USA, Colt, and Dan Wesson at NRA 2023 this year and there’s a lot of good stuff headed to dealers right now.
From CZ we checked out the Scorpion 3+ carbine and the 712 G3 Target shotgun (these 712 G3s, by the way, are awesome freakin’ shotguns at killer prices).
From Dan Wesson we put hands on the Specialist Optics-Ready and the .38 Special Heirloom 2023.

[O]ne would think supporting policies that let Americans carry any type of gun, anywhere, at anytime would be a losing proposition for any politician, much less one who wants to be president.
And yet as I listened to Trump — and the parade of equally craven Oval Office hopefuls who preceded him onstage — I began to realize that he just might be right in his political calculation. Because, far from losing, the NRA seems to be winning.
New From Kimber: KDS9c Double Stack Aluminum Frame 9mm Carry Gun
Kimber announced the KDS9c this week at the NRA show, so we swung by to check it out! This is what I’d call a hybrid style gun, with what’s effectively a 1911 slide, hammer, and trigger on top of a 7075 aluminum frame that’s very much not 1911-like. Nicely sculpted and very ergonomic, the frame holds a 15-round magazine. The resulting package is good looking and lightweight, and should make for a great carry option for the customer who loves a 1911 trigger (and the KDS9c’s was fantastic), external hammer, and manual safety but wants higher capacity.

Houston: Four Armed Robbers Attempt Gas Station Heist, An Armed Customer Shoots Three
Things went poorly for four aspiring armed criminals in Houston. Four yoots piled out of a car and attempted an armed robbery at a Valero gas station. At some point in the would be holdup, a customer drew his own gun and fired on the bandits. The good guy’s shots put such a spring in the step of the robbers that one ran right out of his shoe.
As the gunsmoke dissipated, three of the bad guys had sprung leaks.

Some Highlights From the 2023 Primary Arms Range Day [VIDEO]
For the past few years, prior to the NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits show, Primary Arms has put on a range day with a bunch of manufacturers in attendance. Dan and I visited this year and had a great time seeing and shooting new products! Unfortunately, with a concrete roof over the shooting bays, the audio was a disaster, but we still filmed a few quick hits with some interesting firearms:
