Donohue: Killers Keep Using AR-15s, So Why Are They Still Legal?

Fri, 04/14/2023 - 08:00

The deadliest acts of mass murder in the United States since 9/11 all share one feature: The killer in every case used an assault-style weapon or a firearm equipped with a high-capacity magazine. This was again the case on Monday, at a shooting at a Kentucky bank that killed five, and in the recent shooting at the elementary school in Nashville that killed six, including three 9-year-old children.

And yet, the country has failed to adopt the policies needed to keep these weapons out of the hands of those who would abuse them.

Finally, After Almost a Decade, Biofire Introduces ‘The First and Only Biometric Firearm on the Market’

Thu, 04/13/2023 - 19:12

To put today’s announcement that Biofire Technologies is finally raising the curtain on the Biofire Smart Gun into context, you have to dial the Wayback Machine all the way back to 2014. That’s when we first noted the news that a bunch of Silicon Valley tech types had cut a kid named Kai Kloepfer a check for $50,000. What had young Kai done to deserve all of that cash? He managed to put a biometric sensor — a finger print reader — into a pistol.

Minorities, Hardest Hit by Urban Crime, Confound the Media and Gun Control Orgs by Continuing to Buy Firearms

Thu, 04/13/2023 - 14:00

Policy makers are confounded. A recent report by The Hill showed that African Americans are the most directly impacted by what they call “gun violence.” At the same time, firearm purchases by African Americans rose steeply in recent years. Those two facts are not mutually exclusive and are linked in ways that gun control groups don’t want to admit.

In other words, it’s the crime, stupid. And African Americans are refusing to be willing victims to criminals that have no respect for life or law.

McCain: The Picture of Violent Crime in America is Distorted Beyond Recognition by the Media

Thu, 04/13/2023 - 08:00

Research by John R. Lott Jr. highlights just how geographically concentrated the murder problem is in the United States. Of the more than 3,000 counties in the country, 52 percent had zero murders in 2020, while the 31 counties with the highest murder rates (the worst 1 percent) had 42 percent of the nation’s murders. Expand the focus to the worst 2 percent (62 counties), and these accounted for more than half (56 percent) of U.S.

Wed, 04/12/2023 - 14:00

Rena Rojas, a senior citizen and disabled veteran, lives by herself in the not-so-nice part of the Land of Lincoln’s capital city. When the police took her Smith & Wesson Shield EZ .380 from her that day, they also took her peace-of-mind.

Gear Review: Ulfhednar UHRT55CBH Tripod with Ball Head

Wed, 04/12/2023 - 12:00

Unless I know I’ll be in a blind, it’s pretty rare that I go hunting without a tripod anymore. The consistent use of a tripod has let me take sure shots on game at ranges that would have been iffy or impossible without one. That includes my safaris in southern Africa.

For flat land hunts, or hunts where I wont be walking too far from the bakkie, the standard large competition/tactical style tripod works just fine.

Reality Begins to Dawn on the Anti-Gun Left: Civilian Disarmament in America is a Lost Cause

Wed, 04/12/2023 - 09:00

…Red states have gone all in on weaponizing our society. We’re seeing permitless concealed carry, open carry, allowances to carry in more places, ending gun-free zones, laws banning red-flag laws; all the while, the number of guns in circulation keeps rising by the millions, year after year after year. Republicans keep insisting that the solution to gun violence is more guns, and they’re going to keep going with that theory no matter what the results are.

ATF Head: Gun Industry’s Programs Have Reduced Crime, Firearm Accidents

Mon, 04/10/2023 - 14:00

Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Director Steven Dettelbach spoke at length with The Washington Post about his responsibilities at the helm of the federal agency charged with overseeing the firearm industry.

The Post is unabashedly antigun and pushes gun control propaganda whenever possible. During the discussion, however, Dettelbach took the opportunity to highlight the firearm industry’s efforts to reduce crimes committed with firearms and lower firearm accidents, praising the ATF’s two-decades long partnership with NSSF on firearm safety initiatives.
