Feminists oppose UNARMED self-defense

Mon, 06/09/2014 - 15:09

Here’s a shocker, the gun-hating feminists are angry with our new Miss America for telling women to fight back against rape.

First, Miss Nevada’s suggestion during Miss USA last night and after she won the title:

“I believe that some colleges may potentially be afraid of having a bad reputation and that would be a reason it could be swept under the rug, because they don’t want that to come out into the public,”Nia Sanchez said. “But I think more awareness is very important so women can learn how to protect themselves. Myself, as a fourth-degree black belt, I learned from a young age that you need to be confident and be able to defend yourself. And I think that’s something that we should start to really implement for a lot of women.”

Ammophobes reveal their agenda

Apparently Yahoo News will republish anyone, check out this anti-gun screed. Remember it the next time some anti-gunner tells you he just wants some “common-sense gun control.” No they don’t, they want to “rewrite” (i.e. repeal) the 2nd Amendment (item #4).

Boring “Thank You” Ad from Bushmaster

Dear Bushmaster, if you’re going to spend thousands of dollars on a one page ad on Guns & Ammo, you can do something better. “Thank You” ads are boring unless you’re offering $100 off or showing a cool picture.

InTheCapital attacks Virginia’s “Lax” Gun Laws

Sat, 06/07/2014 - 23:15

10 Percent of Guns Bought in Virginia Can Actually Be Found in DC

It should come as no surprise that Virginia has rather lax laws when it comes to buying guns. To purchase a firearm in Virginia one only needs to be at least 18-years-old and have proof of citizenship. There is no license or registration required, open carrying of weapons are allowed, and both assault weapons and high capacity magazines can be purchased. But, according to a study conducted by Pro Publica, the ease of purchasing a gun in Virginia has made it one of the largest states for gun exports across the country.

More women in Tennessee seeking handgun carry permits

Sat, 06/07/2014 - 16:56

There’s no room for “ammophobia” in Tennessee.

MURFREESBORO — The number of handgun carry permits issued to women by the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security more than doubled between 2011 and 2013.

The Daily News Journal reports Shelby County has the highest total handgun permits issued in the state, followed by Knox, Davidson, Hamilton and Rutherford.

Middle Tennessee State University criminal justice professor Carter F. Smith said the increase in permits issued to women may have something to do with the political climate.

“I suspect the reason for increased permits for women is tied to the reason there have been increased permits for all. My suspicions are that there was a push, formal or informal, tied to a concern that constitutional rights to gun ownership were likely to be threatened,” he said, noting discussions that happened after two mass shootings in the U.S. in 2012.

“More women are fearful because those conversations get their attention,” Smith said.

The largest percentage of permits for women were issued to women aged 46-50.

Smith said age could also be a factor in the increase in permits for women.

Bill Maher calls us “ammosexuals”

Big shot Bill Maher has a beef with gun owners, the supporter of gay rights is not down with gun rights:

The thing about “gun culture,” Real Time host Bill Maher said on Friday, is that there’s not much actual culture — it’s really about the guns, and their owners’ unhealthy attachment to them.

“You guys aren’t just firearm enthusiasts,” Maher said. “You’re

Century Arms Blames Obama for Killing Gun Jobs

Fri, 06/06/2014 - 21:49

The ‘bama doesn’t mind importing illegal aliens and AINO’s like Bergdahl, but when it comes to job creators like Century Arms, you’re out of luck:

MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — A Vermont gun importer is blaming the White House for its laying off of 41 workers because the government blocked its plan to bring nearly $30 million worth of antique, American-made military rifles home from South Korea.

The White House’s refusal to allow Century International Arms to re-import the World War II-era M1 Garand rifles is an apparent result of new rules set up last summer concerning requests to ship military-grade firearms back into the United States.

“This importation was denied despite our explaining that the denial would harm the company and pointing out that there is no rational, gun-control reason to block the importation of these historic, 70-year-old firearms,” the Fairfax company said in a statement posted on its website Thursday.

An email to the White House press office seeking comment was not immediately returned Friday, but a press release from last August said the administration was blocking the re-importation of military firearms as part of two “common-sense executive actions” designed to keep dangerous...

Viridian makes fun of smart guns

Fri, 06/06/2014 - 21:28

Smart move from Viridian, you always want to follow your audience, not lead them or lecture them. We all hate smart guns, perhaps because of their very name, the implication that our old guns are dumb while their new guns are smart. Viridian knows this, and gives us what we want. Frankly, I do like a laser that ignites when I remove the gun from the holster, why not? Have you shot with a Viridian laser? Did your marksmanship improve?
