Photo: A Deer Mount Made Entirely of Shed Antlers
That's a lot of sheds. Can you imagine spending years hunting for the antlers to build this magnificent sculpture? According to reddit, where the picture first showed up and went viral, this work of art belongs to an artist named Rick Stewart. Reportedly it took him 15 years to gather enough sheds to construct the deer simulacrum.

Exclusive: Glock to Release Long-awaited Single Stack 9x18mm Makarov Glock 47
Not wanting to let their momentum machine lose any steam after the announcement of the single-stack, 9x19mm Glock 43, the Austrian wondergun manufacturer has unveiled an even more exciting pistol: the 9x18mm Makarov Glock 47.
"While the Glock 43 will certainly fulfill some users' needs for an ultra-compact, reliable, and capable pistol," said company representative Grigory Otrepyev, "a 9x18mm Makarov model will appeal to a broader and more discerning market."
The Soviet-designed 9x18mm cartridge is well-known for its ability to...
Australian Angler Catches 13-foot Tiger Shark on Hand Line
When Brendon Hilder ventured out onto Western Australia's Shelley Beach on Monday, all he wanted to do was chase some salmon. Instead, he spent two hours pulling in a massive 13-foot tiger shark on nothing but a hand line. Of course, with an animal that may have weighed well over 1,000 pounds, it was not something that Hilder did alone.
"An hour and 40 minutes into the fight, I was ready to give up and I had actually called another person over from the beach just to wind the line for me," he told Read more »

Washington Volunteers Gear Up for Easter Turkey Egg Hunt
Is there really such a thing as too many turkeys? Well if you live near a town with a high turkey population, such as South Hill in Washington, then you might agree that too many gobblers is a bad thing. According to KXLY, the turkey problem in South Hill has gotten so bad that residents often see gangs of up to 20 birds roam the streets. Some homeowners do not seem to mind the turkeys, while others say that the birds damage property, roost in trees, leave feces everywhere, and...
Video: Momma Eagle Caught Feeding Her Chicks on Livecam
Remember that mother eagle that was completely covered in snow while watching over her eggs? Well, those eggs have finally hatched and now mom has to deal with two very hungry bobbleheads. Arizona Man Buys Used Golf Clubs, Finds Loaded Gun in Bag
There is nothing that bargain hunters like more than finding something neat or unexpected in their purchases, but one Arizona man's acquisition took a turn for the eyebrow-raising when he found a loaded .22 pistol in a golf bag. According to the Mohave Daily News, Mel Grewing found a set of secondhand golf clubs in a thrift shop in Sedona, and despite already owning his own set, decided to purchase the clubs and the bags...

Wouldn't you rather have wood? There's just something beautiful about wood furniture on a firearm. They exude sophistication and craftsmanship. The BAREBOW! Chronicles: The Nevada Lottery-draw Tag, Part 2
If the reader thought Part 1 of this story had a lot of emotional ups and downs, you'd better fasten your seat belt for Part 2 of this continuing saga. Emotionally, it turned out to be the most violent roller-coaster ride of my entire hunting lifetime. The drama of Part 1 can hardly compare to the drama of Part 2, and I would urge the reader to take in the previous story first, if he or she has not already done so.
Day 20 of my remarkable 30-day desert bighorn hunt started like...
Columbia Watertight II Jacket
The famous humorist Will Rogers once said “If you don’t like the weather in Oklahoma wait five minutes, it will change.” Never were more true words said; one day it’s warm and the next it’s cold. You can go from sunshine to rain with almost no warning. For the average person, Oklahoma’s weather is really hard to get used to, but it is the perfect place to field test outdoor gear, especially clothing. I was excited to be asked to field test Columbia Sportswear’s new Watertight II jacket and after nearly a month in the field, I am convinced they designed this jacket with...
Video: Man Makes His Own Wooden AR-15 Magazine Speedloader
Have you ever thought making your own AR-15 magazine speedloader? Not only is it a great DIY project, it will also make you the talk of the range (or at least save you some time and money). We've seen several homemade speedloaders before, but this one appears to be the most polished. Equipped with an ammunition pool to make lining up rounds easier, the 5.56 cartridges are piled into a slotted corridor and then loaded into the magazine with the help of a wooden block---and a little brute force. The loader even comes with a handle for easy carrying.
If you have woodworking skills, this might...
Video: Ever Wonder What a Kodiak Bear Cub Looks Like?
Unless you live near the Kodiak Archipelago or work in a zoo, there are few few chances for the average person to spot a Kodiak bear cub. Tied for the largest bear subspecies in the world (along with the polar bear), Kodiak bears are among the most powerful predators not only in North America, but on planet earth. As cubs though, they really don't have the same intimidation factor.
These three bear cubs were born to a female Kodiak bear in Space Farms Zoo & Museum in New Jersey. At about six weeks old, the cubs will soon begin venturing outside of mom's artificial den. For now though,...
Building Your Own Glock: My “Timberwolf EDS19″
While the large-framed Glock pistols (G21, G20) remain some of my favorites, none of the mid-framed guns fit me well. Having tried them all, they are just not comfortable, nor is the grip angle favorable. For me, using them consistently requires a grip reduction, some trigger work, and an aftermarket barrel. That adds costs and time. My friend commented that in the time it took me to customize a stock Glock to my liking, “you could probably build a Glock 17 just from aftermarket parts.” Well, he was right.
I took a look at Lone Wolf’s Read more »
Watch the Teeth: The 7 Most Dangerous Fish for Anglers
For many people, fishing is an excuse to get away from it all---to get back to nature and bask in the idyllic setting of your favorite fishing hole. If you're lucky, you'll be able to bring home either dinner or a photo of that good-sized bass you reeled in. Most anglers don't have to worry about losing fingers or being dragged underneath the water as you might with these fish, but then again, that's why they're on this list. Large and in charge, these predatory fish are not only spirited fighters, but also tenacious to the end.
This is our list of the top seven most dangerous...
Video: Man Interrupts Mating Tortoises, Leads to Slowest Wildlife Chase Ever
When people think about getting chased by wildlife, they usually think of bears, wolves, or mountain lions. They probably never think of tortoises. When explorer and filmmaker Paul Rose stumbled upon two mating tortoises in Seychelles, the last thing he expected was that he'd soon be "running" away from a giant Aldabra tortoise named Jonathan. At 183 years old, Jonathan is believed to be the oldest living animal in the world.
"We began a ludicrous, disconcerting, low-speed chase that took us across the low grass stubble and the adjacent concrete runway and alongside the bushes," Rose...
Two-year-old Girl in India Sets National Archery Record
At age two, most children are still mastering their gross motor skills, yet Dolly Shivani Cherukuri of India has already set a national archery record. According to The Times of India, earlier this month and just days before her third birthday, Dolly completed a challenge that involved her shooting 72 arrows at two different targets, scoring a total of 200 points. Granted, the targets were placed at a relatively close distance---only...
Don’t Let Ticks Take a Bite Out of Your Turkey Hunting
I don't remember it being this way in my carefree days of youth, but ticks have become a turkey hunting fact of life. As you read this, chances are good somewhere there’s a tick crawling up the leg of some unsuspecting turkey hunter sitting in the woods. In any pursuit that involves hiking through the woods or even the grasslands, there are ticks out there waiting to suck your blood. Losing a few corpuscles won't harm you that much, but some ticks may leave you with a longer-lasting parting gift.
The list of tickborne diseases just keeps growing. Take it from someone who spent five days...
Video: This Cringe-worthy Video Shows You How NOT to Ride a Snowmobile
We have yet another crazy video from Russia, which shows us exactly how not to ride a snowmobile. After apparently forgetting how snowmobiles work, this Russian man decided to rest his feet on the track while being towed. The video is pretty cringe-worthy, but the man stuck inside of the snowmobile was somehow unharmed.

Video: Canadian Woman Draws Criticism for Approaching Wild Lynx, Calling It “Kitty”
The Canada lynx may look like a bigger version of the average house cat, but make no mistake, this kitty has claws. The last thing wildlife experts advise is to approach one of the predatory cats and treat it as a domesticated pet, so when a woman in northern Ontario taped herself calling a wild lynx a "kitty" and then posted the video online, she was widely criticized for her behavior.
“I felt like a kid in a candy shop, you know when you see a really cool animal at the zoo or something,” Beth-Ann Colebourne, who made the video, told Read more »
Video: Sugar Bob, the Weed-eating Deer, Makes Appearance on ‘The Daily Show’
Late last year we wrote a story on Sugar Bob, a deer in Oregon's Applegate Valley that rose to fame for its habit of eating marijuana leaves. While it is still debatable whether or not deer can get high off eating marijuana, it seems that some veterinarians agree that the plant offers pets good nutrition (if at a high price). Richard Davis, the owner of both Sugar Bob and a medicinal marijuana farm, doesn't mind sharing either. In fact, Davis would often feed Sugar Bob by hand or let the deer sniff entire...
