Breaking: Shots reported at Washington Navy Yard

Thu, 07/02/2015 - 07:37

A lockdown is currently underway at the Washington Navy Yard due to reports of shots fired on the base and the gates have been closed to traffic until further notice.

Security forces are in the process of confirming the report by making their way through the building where shots were heard. All the personnel on the Washington Navy Yard are sheltering in place.

According to media reports, police, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, federal marshals and ambulances swarmed to the scene. Workers on the campus were ordered to stay where they were, and workers who had not reported to work were told to stay home.

In September 2013, a former Navy reservist and government contractor opened fire in an office building at the Navy Yard.

Authorities are asking that any suspicious activity on or near the base should be reported immediately to the base security department at 202-433-3333.

More information will be released as it becomes available.

With Terminator Genisys set to reboot the world’s most infamous time traveling cyborg this week, the folks at WatchMojo.com bring you ten little known bits of trivia about the franchise.

These include the craptastic ideas that didn’t make it on screen (such as a robot dog!), Edward Furlong’s voice cracking issues, the fact that there really were two Sara Connors and questions over just how the the whole John Connor time loop curse thing works. In all the series has spanned five films, a television series, and a ton of comics graphic novels since springing forth on to the world in 1984.

In short, kids that are under 30 have never experienced a time when there was no threat of Skynet becoming self-aware looming on the horizon.

James Cameron, we salute you.

Trying a .50 BMG from a homemade shotgun (VIDEO)

Wed, 07/01/2015 - 16:58

Youtuber Royal Nonesuch took his DIY steel pipe shotgun and tried to see what John Moses Browning’s .50 caliber heavy machine gun round would look like if shot through it.

The .50 BMG (also known as 12.7x99mm NATO) has been the go-to round for heavy machine guns and extreme range rifles since before World War II. However, they need a good bit of blast off range down the barrel to get enough velocity to do that massive damage downrange…as Royal finds out.

Spoiler: You get to see a .50 cal bullet go slantways.

In case you missed it, don’t try this at home.
