Video: Hunters Parody Macklemore’s “Thrift Shop”
It's 2015 and nearly everyone has heard Macklemore's 2013 hit "Thrift Shop," and due to the catchy nature of the song many of you have heard parodies of the original as well.
These hunters decided to rewrite the lyrics of "Thrift Shop" to reflect some of the funnier happenings at deer camp. The song, titled "Deer Tags," is not quite as catchy as the original, but it's still fun to watch especially considering that many of us are heading out to deer camp right now.
I wonder what bored hunters will come up with this deer...
20 Examples of Bears Doing Human Things
Ah bears. What could we say about these large, majestic creatures that can probably rip us limb from limb like some kind of candy-less piñata? Judging by the antics they get into, bears are probably on our list of the most curious creatures. While this may not always be a good thing, it has led to plenty of hilarious situations where we realize perhaps bears weren't too different from us after all.
We included 20 such examples below.
1. So that's why the humans like it

Video: Nick Mundt Stalks Within Inches of a Mule Deer
Sometimes weather, gear, and luck combine just right to create the perfect hunting opportunity. This video from Nick Mundt---of Bone Collector fame---shows one of those times.
Back in September Mundt shared a still photograph of him standing over a bedded down mule deer with his bow drawn. Many people believed that the muley in the video was fake or image was either photoshopped until this video was released. However, the doubters were silenced once the video below was released.
Obviously a number of factors,...
Video: The Pistol with a 35-Round Horseshoe Magazine
When it comes to magazines, there's a lot of legal-sounding terms being thrown around like "high capacity," "standard capacity," and the like, but have you ever heard of "maximum capacity?" That last one may be applied to this bizarre magazine.
This strange looking device was designed for the French-built Union pistol. The gun was developed in 1925 and originally chambered for 7.65 French Long, but later switched over to 9mm Luger and 7.63 Mauser. The gun itself is somewhat interesting due to the availability of fully automatic versions and their similarity to the 1911 Colt and Spanish...
Video: Spearfisherman Throws Tantrum as Grouper Steals All His Fish
This is the funniest thing we've seen all day. Spearfishermen in goliath grouper territory should be advised that if you shoot a fish within their range, they will chase after it. Sure, it may seem like stealing to you, but in their minds, you're coming to their homes and taking their fish.
Groupers aren't okay with that at all.
Have you ever seen someone throw a tantrum underwater? Well, that's what happens when you lose fish after fish to an opportunistic grouper. Keep in mind that these large fish are more than strong enough to drag you along, and may give...
Oregon Wildlife Officials Recommend Delisting Gray Wolves
The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) announced last month that it recommends delisting the gray wolf from the state Endangered Species Act (ESA) since the species has met the necessary criteria to no longer require protection under the act. The recommendation will be discussed during the Fish and Wildlife Commission meeting next week in Salem.
“Delisting would result in no immediate changes to wolf management in Oregon. Wolf management is guided by the Wolf Plan and its associated technical rules, not the species’ ESA listing status,” said ODFW wolf coordinator...
Bass Pro Reportedly Interested in Buying Cabela’s
News reports on Thursday speculated that Bass Pro Shops, a privately held outdoor retailer, may be considering buying out one of its biggest competitors: Cabela's. According to Reuters, several sources familiar with the matter have said that Bass Pro is currently working with an investment bank to come up with a potential offer. Neither Bass Pro Shops or Cabela's have made any official statements on the matter.
"We are aware of recent media speculation and our policy is not to comment on...
Video: Homemade 12GA 1911 Fails Spectacularly
Every purist knows that a real 1911 is supposed to be chambered in .45 ACP, but this intrepid Thai gun smith decided to chamber one for 12 gauge shotgun rounds.
As you might have guessed the 1911 platform was never designed for shotgun rounds, and this gun may have even started off life as a pellet gun. After firing the round out of this 12 gauge "pistol" you can really tell that the gunsmith needed to go back to the drawing board. The energy from the round ruptured the barrel and cracked the slide of this overpowered homemade pistol.
After watching the video a few times it almost seems...
Videos: Rare Footage of Deer in Life or Death Battle with Mountain Lion
Mountain lions are incredibly powerful predators, leading some to think that as soon as they bring down their prey, the fight is already over. That is not always necessarily true.
Bucks during the rut are already pumped full of testosterone and ready to fight. Give them a set of antlers and you have an animal that is not only equipped to deal some damage, it is also pretty strong in its own right. As anybody who have ever witnessed a duel between two bucks can tell you, these are not meek animals. Add in the fact that it's literally fighting for its life, and you'll find that plenty of deer...
Video: How Many Bullets to Cut a Telephone Pole in Half?
So, ever wonder how many 7.62x39mm bullets it will take to cut a standard telephone pole in half? You probably never wondered that before, but if you're asking all the right questions like Demolition Ranch, then the only way to find out is with the scientific process. Using a Patriot Ordnance Factory AR-15 chambered in 7.62x39, Matt tests to see if he can put the pole in its place.
We'll admit, we thought this was going to be a tannerite prank at first, but sure enough, Matt tries his darnedest to legitimately cut the pole in half with nothing more than what comes out of the end of his...

Video: Bear Makes “Art” by Painting with Its Paws
This bear is selling paintings for more than most human artists can.
This video of a bear painting comes to us from the Predator Center animal sanctuary in the northern Finnish town of Kuusamo. Juuso. The bear in the video lives in the animal sanctuary along with other injured predators. The sanctuary owners are using the bear's artistic talents to raise money to support their efforts. Juuso's art is pretty abstract, but the funds raised by the painting go towards keeping the shelter running. In case you were wondering the paintings are not cheap, and Read more »

Photos: Hunter Makes an Innovative Custom Tree Stand
A hunter who was tired of being cold cold in his tree stand created this innovative blind.
The tree stand pictured below has two major benefits over traditional tree stands. First off, the large platform provides enough space for a propane heater, and the covering helps keep the heat from escaping. Secondly, the camouflaged tarp provides an extra layer of concealment for the hunter inside. These two things would be greatly appreciated by any cold weather hunter.
However, it does appear to have some flaws. This custom stand is much bigger and presumably much heavier than traditional tree...
Hunter Who Bagged the “Largest Buck on Video” Charged with Baiting
In October of 2014, Iowa hunter Joe Franz made headlines after he harvested a massive buck on his property that held a preliminary score of 258 and 7/8. With a score that large, nobody contested his claim when Franz declared that it was the largest buck ever harvested on video.
"I never in a million years thought I'd actually harvest a deer of that caliber," Franz told Read more »
Video: Strong Winds Make This Waterfall Flow Backwards
Have you ever seen a waterfall go in reverse? In the face of strong winds, small waterfalls have been known to blow up and backwards. Some, such as the Derbyshire waterfall in England, is famed for this natural phenomenon. Of course, the water doesn't actually start flowing in reverse, but the waterfall does create the illusion that it does.
You can see one recent example below:

Video: Watch These Deer Dodge Arrows All Day
Your bow's loud and these deer know it. What makes many of these shots all that much more frustrating was the how close they came. In just a fraction of the second, the deer was able to hear the release and bounce out of the way just in time. Some viewers pointed out that many of shots went high anyways and likely may not have resulted in a kill even if they connected.
Tough luck. Try again tomorrow.

Break with Tradition with These 5 Unconventional .22 LR Loads
I think I’m addicted to .22 LR shooting because it’s so pure. You get all the benefits of any other type of shooting, but without the distractions of excessive noise and recoil. I’ve also found that .22 LR is an incredible platform for seriously discreet (and immensely fun) shooting.
While most standard .22 LR ammo is naturally subsonic, a couple of companies have taken the “quiet” of .22 LR plinking to new lows. I mean that in a good way, as I’m talking about new lows in terms of noise.
I thought it might be fun to share my experiences with some of my favorite...
Gun Prices from 9 Other Countries Besides the US
Ever wonder how much guns cost in other countries? Especially countries with strict gun laws? Well the answer may surprise you, or not. We decided to take a look at how much firearms cost around the world and the first thing we noticed, even beyond the price, is simply how easy it was to how hard it was to buy a firearm outside the US. Even disregarding gun laws, applications, and license fees, it was hard just to find a gun store. As for finding a place online to order your guns, well, don't hold your breath.
As always gun prices differ depending on location, demand, and sometimes, even...
Controlling Coyotes to Protect Deer Hunting: Part 2
In the first article of this two-part series we looked at the effects of coyotes on deer populations and their consequent impact on hunting. The results are quite shocking as we discovered several studies that show alarming mortality rates of fawns due to coyote depredation. We also learned that coyotes are very mobile and fill in the vacant areas quickly, so control must be consistent and as widespread as possible.
Coyote control simply means killing as many as possible....
