‘Duck Dynasty’ Musical Falls Flat in Vegas, Will Close after Monthlong Run
A musical based on the lives of the family behind the hit A&E show Duck Dynasty has reportedly flopped in Las Vegas. The show at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino drew weak ticket sales and will close after a monthlong run.
The Duck Commander Musical, which was based on the best-selling book The Duck Commander Family by Willie and Korie Robertson, premiered on April 15 and was expected to play until June 30. However, organizers said that the musical will now be closing on May 17 instead.
"Much has been learned from this limited engagement, and from...
Video: Is This the First-ever Compound Bow Kill from a Helicopter?
This video from PigmanTV reportedly shows the very first compound bow kill from a helicopter. After a few misses, Brian "Pigman" Quaca managed to plug a big sow on a Texas helicopter hog hunt.
Soon after, he harvests a few more.

Video: Gobbler Dodges Three Arrows, Mocks Hunters
Sometimes you can't win them all, but the least you can ask for is that you don't get humiliated. For the hunters at Relentless Pursuit, one turkey hunt ended up so embarrassing that they decided to upload the video as a testament to a wily gobbler.
"That's it. I'm done hunting turkeys. If you can't even go to the woods without getting humiliated and beat up, why bother," wrote Tim Wells on Facebook.
To be fair, the turkey in question doesn't actually have lightning-fast reflexes or the ability to dodge an arrow in...
5 Things You Didn’t Know about Chuck Testa
“Nope. It's just Chuck Testa!” Odds are that if you had an internet connection in 2011, those words have been burned into your brain. Chuck, a taxidermist and the owner of Ojai Valley Taxidermy in California, found himself propelled to internet fame in 2011, when his son-in-law posted a commercial for his business on YouTube.
Now, four years after first entering the public eye, Chuck is the focus of the premiere of CarbonTV’s American Elements. I caught up with him recently over the phone and learned about his life beyond the viral video.
Here are five things you probably...
Can Boone and Crockett Club Stats Lead You to a Trophy Whitetail?
Most all hunters know that the Boone and Crockett club keeps records of big game animals. Their scoring system is the standard in hunting, and they keep score of all 29 species of North American big game.
Of those big game animals, the whitetail deer is the most popular. Whitetails scoring more than 170 inches typical and 195 inches nontypical are eligible for entry into the book. Nearly 10,000 bucks have been officially scored by B&C-trained scorers, and they keep coming in.
What many hunters do not know is that when a buck is entered, there are some questions on the form that...
Video: African Warthog Nearly Stumbles into Blind, Shot at One Yard
Brian "Pigman" Quaca has seen a lot of pigs in his life, but his closest experience was during a recent bowhunting trip in Africa when a warthog decided to investigate his blind. At less than a yard, Brian scored his closest ever kill with a bow.
"Dust is flying, the pig was so damn close that I actually jumped back," Brian said during the video.

An avid hunter and outdoorsman, Brian nearly ended his career---and life---five months ago when he got into a horrific car accident. Brian's Ford Expedition slid off an ice-covered highway in Colorado and tumbled...
Pennsylvania Officials Confirm Rare Cancer in Smallmouth Bass
Officials from the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) announced on Monday that laboratory results have returned for a single smallmouth bass caught in the middle Susquehanna River late last year. The fish, which was harvested by an angler and eventually delivered to the PFBC, had a large and unsightly growth on its lower lip. Tests results confirmed it to be a malignant tumor, the first of its kind ever seen in the state.
"Cancerous growths and tumors on fish are extremely rare in Pennsylvania and throughout the U.S., but they do occur. This is the only documented case of this...
Canada Goose Takes Over Bald Eagle Nest in Cleveland
Birdwatchers in the Cleveland Metroparks Brecksville Reservation reported last week that a Canada goose is now sitting in a nest once occupied by two bald eagles. According to Cleveland.com, park officials have been looking into the strange situation since Sunday, but it appears that the goose has been there for some time. Since the eagle pair remained nearby and has no interest in reclaiming the nest, experts believe it may have been abandoned before the goose moved in. It is still prime real...
Video: Spearfisherman’s Fake Tail Fin Draws in Dolphin Pod
Looking much like a whale or dolphin tail, the DOL-fin monofin is designed for underwater speed demons and divers. It is an odd choice for spearfishermen, especially since it seems to come with a rather unique feature: it attracts dolphins.
Dolphins are highly inquisitive creatures and it doesn't take much to capture their interest, but when this spearfisherman decided to hit the water with the strange fin on, the animals went wild.
"One of these dolphins saw that crazy, crazy fin and he immediately set out chatter to the other guys," said the commentator on the video. "Man when they...
Video: The Lake That Disappears Every Year
Lying just off Highway 20 in Central Oregon is a lake with an unusual habit: every summer, it disappears.
In the winter time, Lost Lake in Santiam Pass fills up as a result of snowfall and other precipitation. The lake's unique position above an open lava tube, however, causes it to drain almost completely through a small hole when the summer months roll around.
The video below, produced by the Bend Bulletin, shows the drainage in action.

Minnesota Governor Curbs Moose Study, Claims It Killed Too Many Animals
Last week Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton signed Executive Order 15-10, requiring the state's Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to end its practice of collaring moose for study. Biologists began placing collars on the animals since 2013 as part of the DNR's $1.7 million study on why moose numbers in Minnesota are declining so dramatically.
Not long after the study began, critics claimed that the research itself was causing too much harm to the animals, reporting that a quarter of collared calves had been abandoned by their mothers after capture. Fatalities due to complications with...

Video: Open Carry Advocate Berated by Demonstrators at Seattle May Day March
Warning: the video below contains a lot of content that would most accurately be described as "annoying."
It purportedly shows an open carry advocate, identified as "Shayne Butts," marching alongside a crowd of May Day demonstrators in Seattle. While some individuals appear to be having constructive conversations with him (and the description says as much), at least two people were not too pleased with his presence, nor that of his SKS.
You can watch highlights from the "encounters" below. One demonstrator goes so far as to impede Butts' travel, calling him racist for carrying a...
Utah Concealed Carrier Defends Carjacking Victim, Fatally Shoots Carjacker
Police in Orem, Utah say they expect no charges against a man who shot and killed an alleged carjacker in a grocery store parking lot on May 2. According to KSL.com, the 31-year-old gun owner was on his way to target shooting when he stopped at the store to purchase food. After he parked, the man heard screaming nearby and saw another man drag a woman from a silver Mercedes SUV, at which point the gun owner rushed to her defense.
"He’s trying to assist this lady whose car is being stolen," Captain Ned Jackson of the Orem Police...
Video: Cat is Thoroughly Confused by Dolphins
This video is pretty old, but who doesn't want to watch a cat play with Atlantic bottlenose dolphins. The cat in this video seems to be very curious about his new water-dwelling friends---so much so that you can see cat nuzzling the dolphins' rostrums. Who knows what theses animals thought of each other. Maybe they wanted to be friends or maybe they were both thinking "I want to eat you, but I can't figure out how."

Arkansas Angler Cathces Piranha, Nearly Loses Finger
The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (GFC) has confirmed that a piranha was caught in Lake Bentonville last week, and it nearly took a finger along with it.
According to 5News, Robert Headley reeled in the fish after mistaking it for a large perch. After removing the hook (and nearly being bitten in the process) and noting the fish's shape and large teeth, the angler contacted wildlife officials and a GFC biologist arrived at the lake to examine the creature.
Experts were initially uncertain...
Video: This Beachgoer Did Not Expect to Find THIS in a Cockle Shell
The ocean is home to some bizarre and interesting creatures, but this beachgoer in Cambodia got a shock when he discovered what was hiding inside this cockle shell. There are more than 200 living species of cockles, but as far as we can tell, none of them have eyes---and none of them can move this fast.
https://youtu.be/Kv-xoiLnPjk
Don't worry too much about the octopus, it wasn't using the cockle shell as a home. More than likely it had squeezed into it after eating the cockle inside, and used it as a temporary hiding place before fleeing back into the water....
Bridging the Gap: The U.S. Optics SR-8C Scope
When choosing an optic, the most important question that needs to be asked is what purpose the optic will serve. In the past, shooters have been limited to choosing an optic that is driven towards a specific mission. An operator might have a simple red dot sight system on an M4 for making entries. On the other hand, a sniper might have a 5-25x optic for engaging targets at great distances. U.S. Optics has broadened the spectrum so that one optic can fulfill multiple roles.
The SR-8C by U.S. Optics is one such optic that fulfills...
Video: The Duck Hunting Game You Should Not Try at Home
Duck Hunt is a Nintendo classic and introduced thousands of young kids to the fun of a simulated duck hunt. That is, a duck hunt in which the birds fly in predictable patterns and your own hunting dog shows up to laugh at your failures.
That said, it was all harmless fun. The game shown in this video, however, is not very safe at all. This would-be duck hunter decides to hunt electronic ducks with a real shotgun, and the results are rather predictable. We're not quite sure what the purpose of this game was, especially as it looks rather dull. Maybe they just has some extra TVs...
