Up-armored 5lb gummy bear faces the FN PS90 (VIDEO)
The Wound Channel stacked up a massively dense mega gummy bear, outfitted with a homemade sheet metal plate carrier, against FN’s 5.7x28mm carbine.
These gummies are the stuff of YouTube video legend, often able to stand up to tremendous damage, but will it stop the 5.7?
The results will surprise– and TWC isn’t even using the good AP stuff, but rather some red box American Eagle 40-grain FMJ.
But then again the bear is aging, so there may be a viscosity issue. We demand a re-shoot with a fresh gummy, for clarification.

Marine Raiders show off a bit of evasive driving training, and Glocks (VIDEO)
Marine Special Operations Command Raiders often travel to exotic places to make friends and influence people. And that sometimes needs some fresh driving skills.
The above video, in which Raiders get some trigger time on (sorta) concealed Glock 19s and not so-concealed Mk 18 rifles while driving like Fast and Furious extras, is the type of thing that has recruiters in strip malls across the nation thanking the ghost of Chesty Puller.
From MARSOC:
Mastering the fundamentals of defensive driving and precision shooting in close quarters enhances the overall effectiveness of the individual operator and team. Dynamic and realistic training prepares them to operate in austere, and often, volatile environments.
And if you listen carefully, you can almost hear the sound of Glock 19s leaving gun shops from Coast to Coast in the background.

Revisiting the M1 Carbine (VIDEO)
Kirsten Joy Weiss takes a quick look at the venerable U.S. Carbine Caliber .30 M1, its origins, and its operation.
With some 6.5 million produced during World War II, this war baby saw combat with the U.S. military well into the 1960s and has been popular with collectors, sportsmen and those who like a handy little rifle ever since.

Bragging rights and splitting cards (VIDEO)
Professional competition shooter Julie Golob takes on trick shot 22Plinkster in a little friendly card cutting.
Golob, a former U.S. Army Marksmanship team standout, has gone on to win over 50 national and international titles over the past couple decades as well as becoming a commentator of NRA Family.
‘Plink, while lacking in official titles, can chew up rimfire rounds and spit them out like a natural.

How about a 6-barreled spear gun (VIDEO)
Everyone’s favorite nutty Bavarian, Joerg Sprave, had so much fun with a Cressi Apache 65 pneumatic spear gun that he bought a six-pack and went to work.
His design is based (kinda) on a non-working mock up of a six-barreled gun designed to take out “Mosasaurs” and while the fictional beast wasn’t available in the German woods, it works well enough to scatter a pile of dog food with three pounds of flying steel spears.
Ho Ho Ho.

NRA tells ‘truth about the terror watch list’ (VIDEO)
NRA’s Chris Cox released commentary entitled “The Truth About the Terror Watch List,” in which he challenges irresponsible politicians and media who have suggested that the NRA wants to make it easier for terrorists to obtain firearms.
Cox calls such deceit wrong and “infuriating,” and makes it clear that NRA members have given their lives fighting the war on terror. Cox sets the record straight on the NRA’s positions on watch lists and due process.

NPR profiles gun control group Everytown (AUDIO)
The National Rifle Association has been a gun-lobbying superpower for generations, but no gun control group had anywhere near the money, political power or boots on the ground. That is, until now.
Gun safety advocates now have their own goliath, and this gun-violence survivor network is just one part of the group. Everytown has billionaires on its board, political know-how and a 3 million-strong citizen army of moms against gun violence. And they are bringing the fight to the NRA.

Testing Level III+ armor plate against antique rifles (VIDEO)
Eric with the IV8888 team breaks out and old Martini-Henry, a .577 Snyder conversion, a Matchlock and others to see what the man stoppers of yesteryear will do against the armor of today.
The plate up for testing is the AR500 ATC plate from Spartan Armor Systems. Rated at NIJ Level III+ it protects against 7.62mm full-metal jacketed bullets (U.S. military designation M80).
That’s nice.
How about a 480-grain lead solid .577 caliber pill over 85-grains of black powder? A matchlock? A Snyder cavalry carbine with a 500-grain Minie slug? Some 766-grain 10-gauge slugs?
A 37mm Parrott cannon?
Ooof.

Footage shows incredible moment student tackled gunman (VIDEO)
The King’s County Prosecutor’s Office released surveillance video this week showing a Seattle Pacific University student tackle and disarm a shotgun-wielding suspect. The incident occurred in 2014, but the video was just made public Tuesday following a court order.
As the gunman, who was later identified as Aaron Ybarra, entered the building after already shooting one person, Jon Meis, who was acting as the school’s student safety monitor, without hesitation charged Ybarra and disarmed him.
Meis was later publicly recognized for his bravery. Ybarra, who plans to use the insanity defense, will stand trial in September for first-degree murder and other charges.

Underwater rifle fire is strangely beautiful and mesmerizing (VIDEO)
Richard and the Full Mag crew got some Vitamin D on their pasty white skin and captured a series of almost hypnotic shots on camera.
Now kicking off a firearm underwater is not recommended due to the fact that a bunch of water can do dangerous things to a gun resulting in a kaboom situation, so we are not advocating anyone jump in their pool and start riddling the sidewall with 7.62×39 and .223 while your buddy drops the GoPro.
With that being said, the footage captured by Full Mag and set to various awe-inspiring soundtracks is captivating.
And stay tuned for the malfunction that blows the mag out of the well and seizes up the BCG. Good times

The joy of a Smith .44 mag wheelgun (VIDEO)
While he may be all about rimfires, 22Plinkster recently had a Smith and Wesson Model 629 Performance Center Magnum Hunter model pass through his hands and remain stuck to them.
“This is a much bigger bark than a .22,” he notes on the big magnum, which is now is favorite revolver.
How sweet it is.

LTE: Headline reporting Christina Grimmie’s murder
The following letter to the editor was sent to Guns.com by reader, Lou Bethel.
I am a big time follower of guns.com and check the website on an ongoing basis. But was disappointed and upset about a recent headline regarding the murder of the young singer in Orlando.
Your headline was:
‘The Voice’ contestant Christina Grimmie gunned down after concert
How about this instead:
‘The Voice’ contestant Christina Grimmie murdered by a fan after concert in Orlando.
Why focus on the implement used in this senseless murder? A sensationalist headline plays into the hands of people that blame guns and not the individual. The fact is she was murdered by a sick person. Let’s keep the focus on personal responsibility.
Thanks for listening,
Lou Bethel

Believe it or not, .50 cal does not penetrate endless stacks of watermelon (VIDEO)
Matt and Operator Dewski sacrificed a fruit stand worth of sweet juicy melon down on Demolition Ranch to find out the ballistic properties when confronted with .50 handguns.
You would think that .50AE from a Deagle or .500 S&W from a Smith wheelgun would do the trick on a row of melons.
You would think.
Good thing they have a .50 BMG Barrett on hand.

Coast Guard lets Ma Deuce out to play (VIDEO)
Since 1933 the M2 Browning heavy machine gun has been spitting out .50 caliber Freedom wherever its used and is still a crowd-pleaser today with all branches of the military, to include the Coast Guard.
The above video shows the USCGC Heriberto Hernandez, a brand-new Sentinel-class cutter named after a Coast Guardsman killed in action in Vietnam, lighting off one of her M2s in some familiarization fire.
The 154-foot long cutter is well served by four such mounts as well as a Mk 38 Mod 2 25 mm cannon as a hood ornament up front.
She is stationed in San Juan, Puerto Rico and currently involved in Operation Tradewinds, a multinational exercise in the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico.

Shotgun slugs made from frozen toilet paper (VIDEO)
Exotic shotgun shell masters, Taofledermaus, squeezed the Charmin in an effort to make a few shotgun slugs out of shaped and chilled 2-ply.
Don’t laugh, Pykrete, frozen composite material made from sawdust or paper products and ice is really strong. In fact, during World War II, the British looked into using Pykrete to make a virtually unsinkable aircraft carrier during Project Habakkuk, but that’s a different story.
And one that was about as successful as these shotgun shells.

British kid nails his pop everyday with a Nerf gun (VIDEO)
This guy’s dad remains unbelievably chill as he gets sniped repeatedly by his wayward son, who he describes as a “silly sod.”
I’d never get away with this from my pops. There would be a shallow grave in the backyard somewhere marked only by a broken Nerf gun, as my Dad would shrug whenever someone asks what ever became of me.
Not gonna lie.

Photos of Canadian kid with gun gets mixed reactions (VIDEO)
Cindy O’Hara didn’t think anything of it when she recently posted photos on Facebook of her 2-year-old child holding a gun, but the photos have received mixed reactions.
O’Hara said her older kids were shooting at gophers while at their property in Alberta when little Jaxson decided he wanted a gun too. So O’Hara said they gave the toddler a broken BB gun.
“He was having a blast,” O’Hara said. “He didn’t really think anything of it, except the pew noises.”
But others had plenty to think, with some saying 2-years-old is too young for such activities, while others said it’s the perfect age to start teaching gun safety. O’Hara said, all in all, she received more positive than negative attention from the photos.

Mud testing the Mosin-Nagant (VIDEO)
Karl and Ian from InRange TV went Eastern Front with their latest installment of testing classic military weapons by gooping a defenseless Mosin-Nagant rifle in the name of research.
The 1937-vintage Tula 91/30 lacked a front sight but was otherwise in working condition before they dropped it in the muck (safety off out of consideration for the bolt) and managed to get the first shot off when it emerged.
That’s when the borscht hit the fan.

FL gator found with human hanging out of its mouth (VIDEO)
Authorities are working to determine the identity of a person who was found being eaten by an alligator Tuesday afternoon in Lakeland, Florida.
When officers arrived on the scene after receiving the call, they were able to get the alligator to let go of the body. Lakeland police Sgt. Gary Gross said the victim appeared to be a male and was likely in the water for more than a day.
Authorities said they weren’t sure whether the victim was killed by the alligator or his body dumped.

Over a dozen shots fired at TN Highway Patrol headquarters (VIDEO)
The Tennessee Highway Patrol headquarters in Bartlett was riddled with bullet holes after someone opened fire on the building over the weekend.
Investigators said the incident occurred just before 9 p.m. Sunday and evidence gathered at the scene indicates the person responsible pulled up to the building and got out of the car before unloading the magazine. Altogether, at least 14 spent rounds from an AK-47 were recovered.
Three people were in the building at the time of the shooting and at least four of the rounds made their way through the front glass and into the building. Thankfully, no one was injured.
The incident is still under investigation and there are no suspects at this time.
