Just what will a 37mm black powder cannon do, ballistically speaking? (VIDEO)
Will 38 inches of ballistics gel and a dozen sheets of plywood stop a 1.2-pound lead projectile a fired from a mini Parrot gun? Heck, let’s find out.
Eric from IV8888 gathered every bit of gel they could muster and a baffle stack of plywood to see just how deep a giant Minié-style projectile about the size of a twinkie would go with some cannon grade black powder behind it, and it still wasn’t enough.
We are talking about something like 45,000 ft./lbs. of energy here.

A closer look at the new Ruger 10/22 Take Down Lite (VIDEO)
Ruger’s newest branch on the towering redwood that is the 10/22 family tree has a ventilated aluminum alloy barrel sleeve, is suppressor ready and breaks down for easy storage.
Unveiled at the 145th National Rifle Association’s Annual Meeting and Exhibits in Louisville, Kentucky last month, the 10/22 Takedown Lite has a new lighter weight 16.12-inch barrel and features Ruger’s Modular Stock system that provides fast adjustment to fit an array of shooters.
As the name implies, the entire gun breaks down without tools into two components for storage and easy carry, the longest of which is just 20.25-inches.

Hickok45 puts some stitches in the Liberty quilt with a full-auto BAR (VIDEO)
On a trip to Texas, Hickok45 came across a real BAR in good ole honest 30.06 and no, it’s not a replica, but a full-auto-only original.
The Browning Automatic Rifle, officially designated the M1918, was a sweet light machine gun designed by no less a firearms genius than John Moses Browning in the tail end of World War I.
Capable of spitting out .30-06 rounds at 500-600 rounds per minute, the BAR could empty a 20-round detachable box magazine in just two seconds when wide open. Speaking of which, the, one Hick has is one of the pre-WWII variants, and is select fire only in the respect that it has a “slow” and “fast” switch.
And you see a little of that above in the video.

Arnold vs. the African elephant (VIDEO)
Sure, he may be big and buff and all of that, but after coming face to face with an elephant in South Africa, Arnold Schwarzenegger fled like a little girl. I’m kidding, of course, but the face-off was captured on video.
“I couldn’t have written this safari encounter better if it was a movie,” the 68-year-old former governor of California said in a post featuring the video on YouTube. “I’m absolutely in awe of these beautiful, strong animals.”
Schwarzenegger admitted some of those on the trip had to change their pants after the ordeal, then noted that the killing of the creatures needed to stop.
“Take a photo, not a shot,” he suggested. “Would you rather be able to experience these creatures or a hunk of ivory? I thought so.”

The Old Guard conducts Flag-In at Arlington to honor the fallen for Memorial Day (VIDEOS)
On Thursday Soldiers of the 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) spent the afternoon distributing flags on all 230,000 grave markers in the cemetery.
The Flags-In detail ensures that each marker is adorned for its own dedicated flag to commemorate the service and sacrifice of each hero. More than 1,000 Soldiers from the nation’s oldest infantry regiment covered the grounds of Arlington National Cemetery in under four hours, and it is a mission they have carried out since 1948.
One departure from the practice is on Chaplain’s Hill, the section of the cemetery set aside for fallen Army religious personnel. The U.S. Army Chaplain Corps handles that personally

NRA Meeting attendees voice their minds on gun control (VIDEO)
The UK’s Guardian got escorted out of SHOT Show this year and wasn’t issued media creds for the NRA Meeting in Louisville, but that didn’t stop them from getting schooled on gun rights.
The Guardian’s Lois Beckett showed up at the 145th NRAAM without credentials but stuck around outside of the Kentucky Exposition Center to see what vendors, vistors and other attendees had to say about gun control and gun culture to the question: “what do liberals get wrong about guns?”
(Our vote for best answer: “How’s the gun control going in Chicago and D.C.? Is it going pretty well in Chicago? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ “)

Turn down the lights, put on the slow jams, and watch this gun carousel (VIDEO)
Gun Freaks stumbled across one of Pendleton Safes’ vault displays and the quiet beauty of what is found turning inside is almost hypnotic.
Pendleton has a patented lazy-susan style carousel in their cylindrical safes, and the display makes for good consumption in the above IG video clip.
And somehow, this small cache of guns was able to not break out and run amok. Think of the children.
Want to know more?
Check out this close up of Pendleton’s offering below at last year’s NRA Show

The M240: Dishing out Freedom since 1977 (VIDEO)
Livio and Sean down at Battlefield Vegas share tribal knowledge on the FN M240B general purpose machine gun, which speaks in belt-fed 7.62x51mm NATO.
A variant of the classic Vervier-designed Belgian FN MAG 58, which preceded the 240 by a couple decades, the gun in U.S. service replaced the M73, M219 and M60 machine guns over a 20 year period and Livio had the fortune to hump one in Iraq while winning hearts and minds a while back.
The Battlefield Vegas guys do the gun justice, walking you through an in-depth field strip to show function and nomenclature, giving some tips on weapon manipulation, and then of course, ripping a belt out on the range.

Charity football game between cops and firefighters ends in bloody brawl (VIDEO)
What was supposed to be a charity football game between New York City’s Finest and New York’s Bravest Sunday turned into an all-out brawl after the cops took a 29-13 win over the firefighters during what was appropriately called the “Fun City Bowl.”
As the two teams gathered for post-game handshakes near the 50-yard line tempers flared before punches started flying and players were thrown to the ground, leaving several players bloodied and bruised.

Don’t knock a trade in police shotgun (VIDEO)
Hickok45 will school you in Mossberg 590, in this case a police trade in bargain rack riot gun still in great condition.
The 590 is based on the 500 but have a number of minor improvements including a full-length open magazine tube and a few other tweaks.
Hick’s particular specimen, like most surplus LE shotguns, spent most of its life riding in a trunk or rack and is a “beater” but still functions well.

What a cheeseball machine gun (VIDEO)
Wait, this is an actual cheeseball machine gun. Our bad.
Using the basics of fluid dynamics, YouTuber NightHawkInLight walks you through how to make your own hopper-filled full-auto cheeseball projector using some PVC pipe, a cheap electric leaf blower, some paint (purely for cosmetic purposes) and agitator crafted from a length of wire that is used to unclog those pesky yellow clumps of unruly salty snacks.
Just in time for those summer cookouts.

Kirsten Joy Weiss: The Scorpion 22 Pistol Has Sting (VIDEO)
Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee could be the motto for the Scorpion 22 target pistol by Volquartsen.
Kirsten Joy Weiss takes viewers through the ins and outs of the less than 2-pound pistol, which she calls “surprisingly efficient,” made for either competition or hobby for a fraction of the price of its Olympic Pistols counterpart.

Chainsaw takes on a chocolate and marshmallow-filled Glock (VIDEO)
Nobody really knows why vlogger MattV2099 hates his Glock 17 so much, but he picked up a Craigslist chainsaw to help him find out.
Matt is best known for Glock food abuse videos where in the past he jammed his trusty G17 full of jello, chocolate, magnum condos, saran wrap, pudding, silly string, Twinkees, bacon, Mountain Dew and Doritos (often at the same time) and so on and so forth.
Untouched (and uncleaned) for the past year, he soaks the Austrian polymer perfection in bar oil and bathes it in fresh saw dust (also mixed in bar oil and random smut), then goes for the test fire.
Does Sara McGlockland still kick out the 9mm? Oh yeah…

The worst idea there is for a homemade shotgun, in duplicate
YouTube amateur gunsmith (and we do mean amateur) Royal Nonesuch has graduated from slam-fire shotguns to a more advanced double barrel 12 gauge that shoots around corners.
Of course, the twin pipe plumber’s special is still slam-fire in action (using springs) but ‘Royal has rigged up a trigger system and crude mirror/aiming reticle (it’s an eyebolt) to keep the budget low.
Problem is, both barrels go off at once– at least in early tests– and the gun is far from accurate (did we mention the mirror and eyebolts?) but it does kinda sorta work. If you are close enough.
Don’t try this at home kids.

It slices, it dices! Kitchen prep with the Can Cannon
Matt down at Demolition Ranch tapped in the Can Cannon AR upper to help out in the kitchen by making perfect french fries and apple wedges with the aid of 5.56mm blanks.
It even cores the apples at it slices!
Wait till you see it chop…
We’re feeling this should be its own infomercial on late night basic cable. This is revolutionary.

When Australians find a table full of oddball RPGs in Cambodia (VIDEO)
“The translation thing over here… you think you are on to something then when it gets to the crunch they’re like, oh you can’t do that,” says Steve as he leans over a stack of RPG rounds.
Australian gun aficionado Stephen Gary “Steve” Lee and company have spent lots of time reducing the cache of surplus RPG-2 and RPG-7s in Cambodia (one rocket at a time). However, in their recent travels Steve and Marchy came across an RPG-9, with some peculiar grapefruit shaped anti-personnel grenades.
Then you know what came next.

Plinking around with the Henry 22 pump (VIDEO)
Pump action rimfires have been around for over a century going back to the Colt Lighting, Winchester 1890 and others, with the Henry being a faithful update to the design.
With most of these old trombones being squarely in the realm of collectors’ pieces, 22Plinkster takes a gander at the new production Henrys that have been on the market for the past few years.

A look at the C96 Broomhandle Mauser (VIDEO)
Probably best known to the current generation as the basis for Han Solo’s DL-44 Blaster, the clip-fed C96 Mauser pistol came from a more elegant time.
Mauser’s Construktion 96 was designed by the brothers Feederle in 1895 and remained in production for a half century in Germany, Spain and China (both licensed and unlicensed.) Chambered in everything from 7.63x25mm to .45ACP (see China) the semi-auto C96 and it’s Schnellfeuer (“Fast Fire”) cousin saw widespread use around the globe– and even in galaxies far, far, away.
Moreover Alex over at TFB TV shows off several variants in the video above including both semi and full-auto fire (see Schnellfeuer) and with the optional buttstock/holster.

8 year old runs a CZ Scorpion like a champ (VIDEO)
Stewie Cook may have to stand on his tip-toes to board some amusement park rides, but he can run the heck out of a Czech short barreled rifle better than more than a few adults.
Che Cook posted the video of young Stewie this week and the young man listens to range instruction well. Better yet, he rings the steel when needed and knows the importance of eyes and ears (as well as some AR500 armor and a sidearm).
Keep it up Stew.
