New ‘X-Files’ series on the horizon? Maybe says Fox CEO
Two Fox TV executives confirmed over the weekend that they have been talking with Chris Carter, the mastermind behind the 90’s supernatural, sci-fi series “The X-Files.” Apparently, conversations have centered around revamping the show, which was a hit for the nine years it aired between 1993 and 2002.
...Smith & Wesson estimates higher earnings for 2015
Smith & Wesson Holding Corporation will adjust financial results for the 2015 fiscal year to reflect the acquisition of gun accessory maker Battenfeld Technologies.
In today’s filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Smith & Wesson expects net sales of between $124 million and $126 million for its third quarter. For the 2015 fiscal year, ending April 30, the company estimates nets sales around $530 million.
By comparison, Smith & Wesson’s 2014 fiscal year ended with $626 million in net sales.
The Massachusetts-based gun maker completed the $130 million acquisition of Battenfeld in December. Battenfeld process hunting and shooting supplies at its Columbia, Missouri, facility, which Smith & Wesson plans to shift all accessory production to later in the year.
Smith & Wesson’s third quarter ends Jan. 31 and the company will release final results at an investor’s conference March 3.

Today kicks off the largest firearms and outdoor trade show in the world, the 37th annual Shooting Hunting Outdoor Trade — or SHOT, get it! — Show in Las Vegas.
At the four-day event gun makers show off their latest and greatest, retailers peruse and buy new inventory, and military and law enforcement look for new options.
Also, the show invites media to gain insight into the industry and gives them a sneak peek at new products and technology.
The show, owned and sponsored by the National Shooting Sports Foundation, the gun industry’s lobby, attracts nearly 60,000 attendants, buyers from all 50 states and more than 100 countries. And it also brings in an estimated $90 million in non-gaming revenue to the Las Vegas economy.

Protesters clash on weekend of MLK’s birthday (VIDEO)
Two groups of protesters clashed in Baltimore over the weekend. One group, clad in Confederate clothing and carrying Confederate flags, was in the park to pay tribute to Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson, while another group stood silently across the street indicating that the tribute wasn’t appropriate on the weekend of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday.
