Brother shoots brother-in-law on Gunpowder Drive

Wed, 07/16/2014 - 02:37

(INDIANAPOLIS) – One person was fatally shot on the city’s northeast side in an apparent domestic dispute Monday afternoon, police confirmed.

The shooting was reported just after 12 p.m. in the 8700 block of Gunpowder Drive. RTV6′s Chris Proffitt reports that a man confessed to shooting a man allegedly involved in a domestic dispute with his sister.

“Well, it was an unfortunate event. My brother-in-law tried to attack my sister and nephew and I had to defend them,” Billy Brantley said. “I live with my sister and I just had my gun on me because I was downtown in an unsafe area … other than that, it is in the safe.”

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Sgt. Kendale Adams said a man’s body was found with an apparent gunshot wound. Family members identified the victim as Bruce Gunn, a retired chemist at Eli Lilly and Company, who was in his mid-50s.

Family members said that Gunn and his wife Martha had been married for 20 years. They also said police had been called to the home frequently for domestic problems.

The suspected shooter has not yet been arrested but was taken by police for questioning.

BB Guns and Butcher Knives get Subway Rider Arrested

Tue, 07/15/2014 - 08:18

If you’re riding the subway in Philadelphia, remember to ride unarmed. Buying BB guns for your kids? Need butcher knives for a BBQ? SEPTA doesn’t care.

A man has been taken into custody after allegedly riding a SEPTA subway train while carrying several BB guns and butcher knives.

SEPTA spokeswoman Heather Redfern said a female passenger reported that a man with a gun was riding a northbound Broad Street Line train at about 10 p.m. Monday.

SEPTA police were dispatched and officers began watching the situation on surveillance video. The man got off the train at 15th and Market streets and was seen walking northbound on 15th Street.

He was apprehended at 15th and Arch streets, Redfern said. At the time, she said, he was carrying four loaded BB guns and three large butcher knives.

The man, whose name was not immediately available, is expected to be charged with carrying a prohibited offensive weapon.

He was taken into custody without incident.

Meet the Side Boob Holster

Sun, 07/13/2014 - 22:18

We’ve all seen holsters that women wear between their boobs, but “The Marilyn” is something else:

The Marilyn holster attaches “high and tight”, like a shoulder holster, on the side of the bra and can be worn with almost any outfit.

The Marilyn is the perfect solution for when it seems impossible to carry a gun. This holster attaches to the side of the bra, and both the carry position and the drawstroke are very similar to a high ride shoulder holster. The Marilyn loves dresses and it also works with sports bras. The gun is accessed by reaching down the neck of the dress or blouse so outfits that eliminate most other types of on-body carry still accommodate this holster.

Most disgusting use of a squirt gun

Sat, 07/12/2014 - 12:13

Get ready for Moms Demand Action to scream “ban squirt guns.”

ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico — An Albuquerque man accused of spraying children with semen using squirt guns is facing new charges for allegedly molesting a young girl.

Albuquerque police say 35-year-old Kevin Jaramillo was charged Friday with criminal sexual penetration, criminal sexual contact and kidnapping.

Judge John Duran, who set a $250,000 bond, said Jaramillo must stay at least 5 miles away from the scene of the alleged incident.

Police say an investigation of Jaramillo’s computer after the squirt gun incidents led to the discovery of pornographic photos of a girl under 13.

The victim told investigators that Jaramillo approached her two years ago while she was riding her bike. She says he took pictures and then molested her.

Jaramillo currently faces eight counts of child abuse and other charges for the squirt gun assaults.

Jaramillo is a nasty POS, I’m sure he’ll be getting what he gave in the Big House, sans the squirt gun.

If you live in Montgomery, Alabama, and have nothing to do on Saturday July 12 from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., this might be interesting:

For those who want to brush up on gun safety and target shooting, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is offering a free Firearms Familiarization Course Saturday at the Montgomery Sheriff’s Office firing range.

Bloomberg strikes out in Colorado

Fri, 07/11/2014 - 00:40

Bloomberg continues to prove himself political poison for Democrats seeking reelection:

“The NRA went after two or three state senators in a part of Colorado where I don’t think there’s roads,” Bloomberg said. “It’s as far rural as you can get.”

In fact, two recalled lawmakers came from Colorado Springs and Pueblo, two of the state’s largest cities.

….

The comment made Colorado the latest state where Bloomberg became a target for Republicans eager to link him to Democrats — and a punching bag for Democrats hoping to show independence from big government New York liberalism.

ESPN attacks gun owners in column about LeBron

Thu, 07/10/2014 - 14:33

Jason Whitlock wrote LeBron’s pride simply not important for ESPN.com and although he mentions guns only once, it’s worth mentioning:

Make no mistake, pride is an American problem. It’s why we live above our means. It baits us into a delusion that cripples our self-awareness. Pride is the reason we won’t address our poisonous gun laws, our fruitless war on drugs and terror, our abuse of the Earth.

While I agree that the war on drugs is futile, is this the place to attack that and guns and push your treehugger-agenda?

I’m not a sports fan, so you tell me, do sports fans actually go on ESPN.com to read anything other than sports?

NY AG Tries Gun-Friendly Tone

Thu, 07/10/2014 - 11:12

New York’s Attorney General Schneiderman had a lot to say to the Police Benevolent Association, here’s what he said about “illegal guns.”

ON ILLEGAL GUNS

  • “We sent undercover investigators into gun shows around the state, add comma and it didn’t matter what story they told the sellers – that their wives had gotten orders of protection against them, that the police had come and taken their guns away – they were still able to buy guns  without a background check.”
  • “We arrested the sellers, but then, instead of going on the attack and grandstanding, we sat down with the operators of six major gun shows and together drew up a set of  Attorney General model protocols to close the gun show loophole in New York.”
  • “Responsible gun owners are not the enemy. The only way  to make this country safe from illegal guns is to end the poisonous rhetoric about gun ownership and instead  get law enforcement and responsible gun owners working together. That’s being tough and smart, and that’s what we are doing.”

Gun control in Planet of the Apes?

Thu, 07/10/2014 - 09:47

I haven’t seen the new Planet of the Apes movie, but every movie reviewer is writing things like these:

…apes now rule a world where all but 1 in 500 humans have been wiped out by a so-called simian flu virus.

….

The movie feeds off a sense that, given the state of the planet, a reordering of the animal kingdom may be due. There’s a pervasive jealousy to the primates in “Apes”: their comfort in nature and simplicity of life. Audiences, in fact, will cheer the animals over the humans. And few will miss the gun control argument shallowly buried throughout the film. What would Charlton Heston have made of that?

Source: http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/wireStory/review-monkey-business-planet-apes-24495445

Comfort in nature and simplicity of life sounds like a SURVIVALIST argument, and survivalists are extremely pro-gun. so where’s the gun control argument everyone keeps talking about? Are they saying Apes bought their AK-47s at AmmuNation? Would there not have been an Ape revolution if it wasn’t for the guns?

Let’s get a few things clear.

1. “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” happens in San Francisco, an anti-gun city where it’s just the criminals and cops that...

Open Carry Voting in Alabama

Thu, 07/10/2014 - 02:42

The gun-hating media in Alabama is worried about “gun-tootin voters”.

Limestone County Elections Director Bobbi Bailey has had no complaints, so far, about asking gun-carrying voters not to bring their weapons into polling places now that the state’s open-carry law changed.

“To my knowledge, we had no one complain about it saying it infringed on their right to carry a gun,” Bailey said.

Most of Limestone’s polling places are on private property, like churches, so they can legally ban guns. Four polling places are at fire departments, which are county owned, and two polling places are at schools. However, those two schools should be off the list in November, Bailey said.

Limestone County Sheriff Mike Blakely, who has been sheriff for 32 years, said he has never had a call about a voter with a gun at a polling place but he doesn’t know what the future holds.

“We’ve never had a problem like that, but we haven’t had that open-carry law we have now (in previous elections),” he said.

Deputies have been assigned to watch polling places in the past.

“In some of (the elections), we do staff polling places, and they call us if they have problems,” Blakely said. “We used to be required to keep someone at the armory, but that was one...

Harry Reid Blocks Pro and Anti-Gun Votes

Wed, 07/09/2014 - 20:52

Harry Reid enjoys an A-rating from the NRA based on his votes, so this behavior is surprising unless he’s afraid of his fellow Democrats facing more defeats.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid blocked a parade of campaign-season votes on gun rights Wednesday that could have been a political thorn for Democrats seeking to retain control of the chamber in this fall’s elections.

The Nevada Democrat used Senate procedures to prevent votes on any amendments to a bipartisan measure expanding hunters’ access to public lands and renewing land conservation programs. The dozens of thwarted proposals included Republican efforts to expand gun owners’ rights and Democratic attempts to toughen firearms restrictions.

In April 2013, the Senate rejected an effort to expand background checks for gun buyers and to impose other firearms curbs, four months after the fatal shootings of 20 children and six staffers at an elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut. President Barack Obama and top Democrats promised the drive would be renewed, but they have lacked the additional votes and faced reluctance by some lawmakers to revisit the issue.

The wide-ranging bill the Senate debated Wednesday included provisions opening up more federal lands to...
