Americans’ lack of WWII knowledge is downright sad (VIDEO)
Apparently World War II just wasn’t worth remembering anything about to some people and to others, Adolf Hitler’s little mustache was more memorable than the fact that he orchestrated the mass genocide of millions less than 80 years ago.
After several attempts at getting the correct answers, the video goes to a veteran who wraps up the test with, “Well, I hate to say it, but most young Americans are pretty ignorant.”

For all the haters who say the Walther CCP is too hard to take down (VIDEO)
Some complain Walther’s CCP is too hard to break down for maintenance– even saying it takes three or more hands to do it. Dan Davies pulls it off with one.
Sure the CCP, unlike a lot of modern handguns, requires a tool to perform the takedown process. But Dan, who has a paralyzed left hand, prefers the Walther for his EDC piece and has no problem with his weapon manipulation at all.

Man shoots self with flare gun (VIDEO)
For reasons which at this time aren’t fully understood, a man in France apparently wanted to see what happened when you shoot yourself in the head with a flare gun, and, of course, captured the experience on camera.
What he learned was that when you shoot yourself in the head with a flare gun, it kinda hurts. Immediately following the stunt, the guy, who appeared to be missing an eye, dropped the flare gun, started cursing and holding the side of his head.
In the end, he ended up with burnt hair and a bloody scalp… and nearly 64,000 views on LiveLeak.

Bank teller point of view from behind bullet resistant glass (VIDEO)
As part of their ever-evolving research on just how “bulletproof” items commonly referred to as such actually are, Taofledermaus riddled some Level III ballistic glass.
They went to town on the over one-inch thick sheet with .22LR, 9mm, .40S&W, .45ACP, and some spicy 10mm Auto, then went 5.56mm– all of which were stopped.
Next came some .308 and 12 gauge slugs which, when you keep in mind the glass was nothing but one spiderweb after another by that point, were almost a forgone conclusion. Still, the sheet was only rated for .44 Mag anyway, so there’s that.

Trying a run and gun with the full-auto only MP40 (VIDEO)
Alex with TFB TV goes in-depth with the classic open-bolt MP40 submachine gun of World War II fame.
While we generally like to use the term “select-fire” when talking about guns like the German MP40, the fact is that barring excellent trigger control, loading a single 9mm cartridge in the mag, or jams, the old Teutonic SMG only runs wide open.
A classic of it’s day, Alex seems to have figured out the trigger on German’s iconic answer to the Tommy gun.

What a real Mare’s Leg should be (VIDEO)
Chad and Eric with the Moss Pawn/IV8888 crew have done reviews with the Henry Mare’s Leg handgun and the full-size Henry carbine, but really hit the sweet spot by going SBR.
The no-tax-stamp-required stock Mare’s Leg pistol is awkward to fire under the best of circumstances while the carbine is a little long for some. But, if you get the stamp for a short barreled rifle build and go after that same .44 mag carbine, it can be just right.
How short is it? Try 12-inches of barrel length but with a functional stock and some aftermarket Skinner Express sights.
“It’s immensely more handy,” says Chad.

Taking on the debate between .223 and .308 (VIDEO)
DemolitionRanch tackles the great question between the ballistic benefits and trade offs of .223 Remington and .308 Winchester.
The vid is a little basic if you have experience on both, but if you are new to the game, or if you just really want to see some penetration comparisons which are always fun, tune in.
Warning: There is a Meghan Trainor song reference that you can skip in the first 15 seconds if you need to. You are welcome.

Thoughts after a year using the Glock 43 (VIDEO)
Chad with IV8888 has been carrying and using the 9mm single stack Glock 43 for 365, including getting some occasional quiet time in, and he shares his thoughts.
They picked up a G43 for review when they were introduced last year then Chad wound up buying one when they came on the market and he is frank and honest with some of the minor issues with the gun– so much so that he even mentions that Glock wanted them to pull their original video on the gun, but it seems to have grown on him over time.
And it really is mega quiet with a threaded barrel, a Liberty Mystic X can and Hush 147-grain subsonic ammo.
Though he does mention a noteworthy difference on the finish of the new Gen 4s over the older Gen. 3s…

Miculek goes full Captain America complete with bulletproof shield (VIDEO)
Champion shooter Jerry Miculek channels the super-soldier of the Greatest Generation and creates his own solid titanium 12-pound shield, then tests it with a GI 1911.
While they tried to lay hands on a quantity of Vibranium-iron alloy it just didn’t happen, but in the end it looks like the same quantity of regular old titanium will do the pinch against .45ACP ball.
But it does ring a bit when struck, unlike Howard Stark’s prototype for the first Avenger (“It’s stronger than steel and a third the weight. It’s completely vibration absorbent,” said the man with the funny mustache).
We guess Miculek doesn’t have Stark’s funding.

5,000 Round field test of RAS47 shows the good, the bad, and the ugly (VIDEO)
Robski and the gang at the AK Operators Union, Local 47-74, speak Kalash as a native tongue and they went the distance with the Century Arms RAS47.
The gas-operated RAS47 is Century’s rugged “entry-level” AK style platform and AKOU in the end vouched for the gun’s accuracy and grudgingly admitted that the gun survived the test.
“This rifle can shoot accurately all day long…” said Robski, showing footage of him making 100 yard head shots with the RAS47.
Then he advises that, “If you are a Century fan, turn this TV off because it’s going to get nasty right now if you cannot handle the truth.”

‘The Magnificent Seven’ teaser trailer packs a pretty powerful punch (VIDEO)
It’s a difficult feat to remake a classic film, but the teaser trailer of “The Magnificent Seven” leaves some hope for Sony, MGM and Columbia Pictures.
Then again, an all-star cast and crew, awesome soundtrack and, of course, guns galore help to make the movie appear magnificent. Let’s hope we’re not disappointed when it hits theaters September 23.

Scrap between construction companies leads to front-end loader smackdown (VIDEO)
Video has surfaced from China of a street fight between rival construction companies that looked like something out of a Michael Bay movie.
In the brief footage, a number of large construction vehicles are seen squaring off a real-life mecha combat but sadly without flamethrowers, rockets or large caliber artillery.
According to reports, the workers were from two companies competing for business and occurred in Hebei province’s Xingtang county.
Or could have just been a coverup to hide a Decepticon resurgence. Either way.

Want to make some ballistic gel giggle? Just add blasting cap (VIDEO)
Richard and the FullMag channel inserted one perfectly good blasting cap into a dirty looking batch of ballistic gel and got one heck of a result.
While the block seemed to come out of the encounter relatively intact, the slo-mo footage show why its never a good idea to hold onto a blasting cap (which looks nothing like a “cap” ) unless you have someone to open your pop bottles for you for the rest of your life.
Remember, it only takes like 7 watts of juice to set off some caps, so safety first!

Getting down with the Fostech Origin 12 (VIDEO)
Eric with IV8888 got his mitts on a Fostech Arms Origin 12 tactical shotgun and he feels it’s likely the world’s fastest (semi-auto) shotgun on the market.
The Origin 12 first popped up at the 2013 SHOT Show and, with it’s very-AR/AK mutant look, low recoil and an option for a side-folding stock, it’s eye catching despite being north of $2,000 MSRP.
Eric seems to have no issue putting massive amounts of shot on target in the blink of an eye.

FPS Russia reviews the leading personal flamethrowers on the market (VIDEO)
Everyone’s favorite “Russian” by way of Georgia puts the Throwflame X15 head to head with the Ion Productions XM42 in a flame-off for your consideration.
Both of these designs popped up in the past few years and either have an aesthetic appeal for those who want to cook their very own slice of the ozone layer. However, besides the novelty device appeal, each has a practical use for those that need it, and they are legal in 48 states without a permit, background check or license.
And you know FPS Russia has the target set up for this little barbecue. At this point, the question is no longer if you should own a flammenwerfer, it’s which one to buy…

What is Oobleck and why is it so mesmerizing to shoot? (VIDEO)
Oobleck is a mixture of cornstarch and water that forms a non-Newtonian fluid which kinda alternatively acts as a solid or a liquid depending on how much force is applied to it.
The guys at The Backyard Scientist start off with some Oobleck tests with a chainsaw, then move on to hitting it with a pellet rifle and a golf ball cannon (which is pretty fly of its own accord) to get some neat results.

Big medicine with the Ruger No. 1 in .375 H&H Magnum (VIDEO)
Hickok45 goes big game with Sturm, Ruger’s solid falling-block single-shot chambered in that pipsqueak little round– .375 Holland & Holland Magnum.
Designed by Bill Ruger in the 1960s as an American-made falling block rifle with a classic English Farquharson-style action, the beefy No.1 has been chambered in just about every modern centerfire rifle cartridge since then and Hick got one in .375 H&H. Known as a good all-around loading, the big belted magnum is popular with professional hunters wherever potentially dangerous game are encountered.
Or when you need to really slap the rust off some steel plates as in Hickok’s backyard range. Whatever comes first.

Kirsten Joy Weiss schools first-time shooters (VIDEO)
While she realizes most of her fans are probably already gun enthusiasts who get plenty of range time, sharp shot Kirsten Joy Weiss also knows there are those out there who – for whatever reason – have never shot a gun. Her latest video is dedicated to them.
Starting with, of course, safety first, Weiss walks through the ins and outs of a gun, its components and operation, and lastly, hitting the target.

Sure full-auto is fun but can you actually hit anything with it? (VIDEO)
Hickok45 likely has more trigger time logged than most Western European armies, and he examines the practicality of select-fire in regards to putting lead on target.
With his trusty Uzi, he works the Hollywood-style pray and spray sweeping technique which is more tacticool that tactical, then switches to a more correct short 2-5 round burst technique and picks up better results.

20mm armor piercing tungsten sabot against Level III body armor (VIDEO)
Richard and the FullMag gang picked up some AR500 body armor, which is proof to 5.56 M855, and went at it with a MK149-4 armor-piercing round, which it isn’t quite rated for.
The U.S. Navy’s Phalanx CIWS anti-ship missile defense system was originally fielded to use the MK149-2 round with a depleted uranium penetrator, but the round has been replaced in more recent years with the 149-4 which uses a more environmentally friendly tungsten sub-caliber penetrator held inside a discarding sabot.
And, meant to destroy incoming missiles and turn insurgent speedboats to Swiss cheese, the round scoffs at the AR500, excellent armor that it is.
