Raleigh Judge Grants Injunction Against NC Law Barring Permanent Residents from Obtaining CHPs
For several years now, I’ve been pretty outspoken about some of the changes that need to be made surrounding NC concealed carry law, and one of the things that I’ve always thought needed to be changed was that NC law did not allow the issuance of concealed handgun permits to people who are non US citizens.
...That’s One Way to Keep People from Crowding Cover…
Crusing Instagram this afternoon I came across this video from @MHC_LEO of a stage from his first IDPA match:
Look how shot up those barrels are! Here’s what @MHC_LEO said when I asked him about it “@triangletactical they are like razor blades. My arms and knuckles literally looked like I fought a wildcat.”
I’m suddenly a lot more thankful for the match directors around here that swap them out when they get shot up. I wouldn’t want to help setup or tear down at that range. Yikes.

Ladies: Concealed Carry Fashion Show
Candy Sugarman from the Gun Powder Gals is hosting a concealed carry fashion show this coming September. As a manly man, I’m not super interested in such a thing, but as someone who believes that women should be empowered to carry wherever they please for their own protection, I think this is a great idea to show women some of the different ways to carry concealed, and possibly try some different types of holsters and such.
Looks like you can contact Candy for more information if you’re a vendor, or interested in sponsoring the show.
If you want to hear what the Gun Powder Gals are all about, check out episode 94 of the podcast.

Local Folks: You’ll Probably Want to Watch This…
Thursday on the 6PM news, WRAL will be exposing a runaround to NC law that allows people to obtain a concealed carry permit while bypassing NC’s “rigorous” requirements.
Here’s the link to their write-up on it. (Watch the video, and look closely at the 22 second mark).
I’ll hold off on my thoughts until I see the piece tomorrow evening.

Anti-Competition Competitors – 130
This week we have a bit of a rant, where we talk a bit about people who shoot competition, who are anti-competition. We’re not slamming the people that are just there to have a good time, but rather the folks who brag about not practicing, or rag on the people who do practice and want to get better.
...NC Sheriff Denies Pistol Permit on Subjective “Moral Character” Reasoning
Here in NC, we still have an old Jim Crow law that requires people to obtain a Pistol Purchase Permit from their county Sheriff before purchasing a handgun. While I disagree with having to get the Sheriffs blessing before purchasing a handgun, there’s a little part of the NC law that sticks in my craw even worse, and that’s that the Sheriff can deny a PPP to someone based on their moral character.
...An Unscientific Case Study on Pro and Anti-Gun Bumper Stickers
Last Wednesday (just minutes before my car blew up) I decided while driving home from work that I would start keeping track of the amount of pro-gun and anti-gun bumper stickers that I see on my commute across Raleigh every day.
...Live Fire and Broken Guns – 129
This week we talk about a bunch of stuff. Some listener questions from Facebook, some new stuff from the NRA show (we’re not there), and a bunch of other stuff too.
...TSgt Adam Ginett Memorial Pistol Shoot – April 18th, 2015
The folks at H2O are some of the friendliest, most welcoming folks I’ve ever shot with, and this match is raising money for a good cause. It’s an all volunteer effort, so all of the money raised will make it to the EOD Warrior Foundation.
I’m planning on being there, hope you will be too.

Don’t Reload With THAT Powder, It’s So Filthy!
When I first started reloading about a year ago, it seemed like everyone told me that I NEEDED to have a Dillon 550 or 650, and I needed to load 147gr bullets over Titegroup or Clays powder to be competitive in competition.
...The Future of Concealed Carry in NC – 128
In the past couple of weeks here in NC, we’ve seen several bills flow into the state legislature that would make some positive changes to our concealed carry (and other gun laws). The biggest of which is HB562. Among other things, HB562 would allow a little more leeway for people bringing guns onto school grounds in their vehicles, add an exception to an exception to allow concealed carry at the state fair (which in our opinion, adds to the “Quagmire of Stupidity” that we talked about back in Episode 103), adds a vehicle storage law that basically says that employers cannot disallow people from having a gun in their locked car, and would standardize signage requirements no guns signage. The bill does a lot more than what I mentioned here, but these are the parts we cover in this episode.
...Dan Bilzarian Avoids Jail Time With Gun Safety PSA – And It’s Hilarious
According to the Daily Mail, Bilzarian was forced to make this gun safety/exploding target PSA to avoid jail time.
Honestly, I think it’s completely hilarious. The AK-47 Hooka, the Action Figure of himself, and the picture on the wall behind him are wonderful touches.
Well played sir.

Dear NC General Assembly (An Open Letter on Pro-Gun Legislation)
Y’all seem ready and willing to introduce new pro-gun legislation this session, so I wanted to take a moment and let you know about a few things that I’d like to see fixed in the general statutes regarding guns:
...“But I Don’t Have an iPod, So…”
This weekend I was talking to someone about the podcast, and they asked if we put the episodes on YouTube because he doesn’t have an iPod to listen to the show on.
...[Interview] USPSA Production National Champion Ben Stoeger
This week we had a chance to meet up with USPSA Grand Master and current Production National Champion Ben Stoeger. We talk a lot about how he got into shooting, robocop, Mel Gibson, mullets, dry fire, and goons.
...Donnie Harrison: Good Guy Sheriff
When I got home from work this afternoon I had a letter waiting for me in the mailbox from the Wake County Sheriffs Department. It was a small piece of card stock folded in half and sealed with tape.
...Listener Feedback and Voicemails – 126
Nothing but listener feedback in this episode! Marty tells us about his first match, Mike is going to shoot his soon and asks about a Bravo Concealment holster for IDPA, Brian emails in from Canada (America’s Hat), Ron sets us straight about local 2-Gun matches, Terry asks about Major vs. Minor power factor scoring, and Steve has a couple retarded questions for us.
...Glock 43 Compared to Other Pistols
Y’all asked for it, and here it is. Once again, I need to inform everyone of the numbers I’m using to makes the comparison images. I’m using the picture of the Glock 43 that is going around the internet today sized by the numbers listed in the picture of the Recoil magazine page in this post (6.26″ Overall Length). I traced the picture below into a vector image, and then laid it over other vector images from other popular pistols.
...Is the Glock 43 Cat Out of the Bag?
I filmed this video last night explaining all of the Glock clues and my “photo forensics” work that I did on the clues.
